Mendip Activity Centre is a leading outdoor activity provider in Somerset, setting the gold standard in school outdoor adventure trips. They have over 30 years experience delivering residentials to primary schools, secondary schools and higher education groups.

Mendip Activity Centre is just a short drive from Bristol and Cheddar, within the Mendip Hills National Landscape. Accommodation options include a Canvas Tented Village, Youth Hostel, Country Lodge, and Campsite – perfect for groups of up to 300 students.

School residentials run across five days, and are focused on the core values of Outdoor, Adventure, and Growth. An action-packed week of activities, full catering provision, and the ideal accommodation set-up for your group is provided.

All activities are designed to challenge and inspire students and teachers. An example week may include: target sports, caving, rock climbing, bushcraft, paddle sports, and more. Evening activities, such as night walks, team games, camp fires, and orienteering,  are great ways to end the day.

Set on a stunning 250-acre site, Mendip Activity Centre has plenty of space for students to get outside and learn together.

School residentials at Mendip Activity Centre are focused on screen-free outdoor activities, run by qualified instructors. The team will plan it all – allowing teachers to spend quality time building great relationships with students.

Outdoor education is a key part of any curriculum, and offers the ideal opportunity for students to build resilience, gain confidence, and improve vital communication and team skills. The Mendip team can design your week around specific goals, challenges, or curriculums.

Mendip Activity Centre is based within 250 acres of the Mendip Hills National Landscape. There’s plenty of space to explore, and loads of activities to take part in.

-Mendip Basecamp: Canvas-style accommodation for 55 to 300.

-Pop-up Tented Village: Minimum number of 30 required.

-Indoor Accommodation: Hostel-style bunk rooms for 55 to 89.

-YHA Cheddar: Youth hostel with 53 beds, split across two buildings.

All instructors are first aid trained and all staff have a full DBS.

Mendip Basecamp: Canvas- style accommodation is like camping but with smart, group-sized tents, hot showers, and flushing toilets. There’s access to a private social marquee with a teacher lounge, and a shared canteen with private meal times for the group.

Indoor Accommodation: Exclusive access to the Lodge during stays. Lounge areas, canteen, and outdoor space. Every room is fully en-suite with recently refurbished bunk-bed rooms. There is one fully-accessible room.

YHA Cheddar: Kitchen, dining room, lounge, car park, garden. Groups will have exclusive use of the building.

Wifi is available. There is plenty of outdoor space for students to play.

Mendip Basecamp and Indoor Accommodation: Fully-catered with locally-sourced, freshly-cooked meals. Everything is prepared by the team on-site. Catering starts with the first evening email, through to a packed lunch on the final day. Mendip are able to cater for all dietary needs and requirements, and will provide details of all menus including allergens and calories.

YHA Cheddar: fully-catered options are available.
