Packing the right kit is essential to make sure children stay comfortable, safe, and ready for every activity on their outdoor adventure school trip. At Land & Wave, we provide all the specialist equipment needed for activities (helmets, wetsuits, buoyancy aids, climbing gear, etc.), so pupils only need to bring personal clothing and essentials.

Here’s an overview of what to pack:

Clothing

• Waterproof jacket and trousers – to keep dry in all weathers
• Warm layers – fleece jumpers, hoodies, and long-sleeved tops
• T-shirts and shorts – for warmer days and under wetsuits
• Joggers/leggings – avoid jeans as they get heavy when wet
• Socks and underwear – plenty of spares, especially thick socks for walking boots
• Pyjamas/nightwear – warm and comfortable for evenings
• Swimwear – for water-based activities under a wetsuit
• Sun hat / woolly hat & gloves – depending on the season

Footwear

• Sturdy trainers or walking boots – for land activities and hikes
• Old trainers or wetsuit shoes – that can get wet during water activities
• Flip-flops/sliders – useful for shower blocks and around camp

Personal items

• Sleeping bag & pillow (if camping – not needed in hotel accommodation)
• Towel – ideally one for showering and one for activities
• Reusable water bottle – staying hydrated is important
• Wash bag & toiletries – toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant
• Sun cream & insect repellent – protection in all seasons
• Torch or headtorch – especially useful at the campsite
• Plastic bags/dry bag – for keeping wet or muddy kit separate

• Camera (disposable or digital, but avoid expensive items)
