What does your residential centre offer school trips

We are a small, family run business established in 1989. We offer fully residential outdoor education visits for primary-aged groups only, fully linked to the curriculum, but which are such good fun that children don’t realise how much they are learning. We were established by teachers, and still run by teachers, so we know exactly what works and what doesn’t. What particularly works is our warm family atmosphere – with a maximum of 2 groups on site at any time and each group having their own separate accommodation, dining room (meals are taken together, as a school, rather than impersonal canteen style), activities and even use of the grounds. The end result is Aylmerton Outdoor Education Centre, providing such excellent residential educational visits that schools return to us year after year – some are now in their 25th season and several teachers have returned here following their own trips as children. They do this because we are, in their opinion, unmatched by any other centre.

What makes you a great group accommodation choice for a school trip

Aylmerton OEC provides a truly unique experience with an indefinable special something that ensures schools return to us year-in, year-out. Some of that is due to the activities we offer – where children learn whilst having fun – doing activities that are also unique including our famous mud walk. But our USP is the extraordinarily high quality of our instructors. We differ from most other residential activity centres in two crucial areas, namely that we employ all our instructors on permanent contracts and pay them as much as we can afford rather than as little as we can get away with. As a result, all our staff are paid well above average and our team stay with us for many many years gaining a wealth of experience that, we believe, is unmatched.
On site activities

We offer fully instructor led outdoor education courses, tailored to individual group requirements, and including activities such as team building, ropes course, bushcraft, woodland fun, hide building, archery, beach visit, river study, seal trip etc.
