What does your adventure education centre offer on a school trip
Based in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, in the UK’s smallest city of St Davids, TYF is the perfect choice for your next adventure trip.
Founded in 1986, TYF has over 35 years of expertise in delivering experiential adventure education programmes. We believe in the power of authentic adventures and venues, providing an immersive learning experience. Our programmes not only enhance students’ personal and social development but also ignite a sense of wonder and a lifelong passion for the natural world.
On a TYF Adventure trip to the dynamic Pembrokeshire Coast, students will immerse themselves in nature while engaging in adventure activities designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and environmental responsibility.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Welsh coastline, you can choose from activities such as coasteering, kayaking, surfing, and climbing, all led by TYF’s expert guides. These experiences will not only allow students to connect with the wild landscape but also help build essential life skills such as teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving.
By the end of the day, students will return home not only with wonderful memories of exciting adventures but having grown as individuals. The trip provides students with a valuable mix of practical skills, knowledge, and a sense of responsibility towards the natural world.

What makes you a great choice for educational visits
TYF trips are intended to fulfil national curriculum outcomes as well as facilitating personal development. They provide hands-on experiences that complement classroom learning in subjects such as geography, science, and physical education.
During activities such as coasteering and kayaking, students explore the dynamic intertidal zones surrounding the Pembrokeshire coastline, experiencing first-hand marine ecosystems and the coastal geology. With obvious links to subjects such as geography or the sciences, our guides are experienced in helping students deepen their understanding of the delicate balance of these environments and the impact of human activities. They gain insights into how these ecosystems function and the importance of protecting them.
Throughout our activities, students are given the opportunity to develop essential mental and social skills. Whether it’s improving collaborative working and communication methods when working in teams during our problem-solving session or developing their critical thinking whilst taking on our orienteering course. These experiences promote personal development, resilience, and communication skills, which are key components of social education.
Furthermore, physical education is naturally integrated into every aspect of the trip, as students engage in physical challenges that build fitness, coordination, and teamwork. By linking adventure-based learning to curriculum goals, TYF trips provide a practical, engaging way to deepen student understanding and foster a love of learning.

Materials provided
TYF offers a variety of teaching resources tailored to the specific activities chosen by each school. For example, if students are participating in orienteering, TYF provides detailed maps, compasses, and instructions suited to their skill level. Similarly, for water-based activities like kayaking or Coastal Explorer sessions, TYF supplies guides and information on marine life and coastal ecosystems. For the Rockpool Safari sessions, there are ‘Treasure Hunt’-style checklists, allowing students to tick off species as they discover them, making the experience both engaging and educational.
That said, outside of the activities mentioned above, TYF generally does not provide physical teaching resources. This aligns with its commitment to reducing paper usage and promoting experiential learning, which focuses on learning through observation, engagement, and direct interaction with the natural world.
However, there is a collection of pre-prepared worksheets and curriculum-aligned materials available upon request, depending on the school’s needs. These worksheets cover topics ranging from environmental conservation to physical education and are designed to reinforce key concepts learned during the trip. Teachers can also request lesson plans, reflection sheets, or tailored activity guides to extend the learning experience into their classrooms.

“I have come for many years and will keep doing so! I love the varied programmes and a chance for the children to see nature.” Edgeborough
“Instructors were incredible and made it so worthwhile.” Frensham Heights
“The Mega SUP was an awesome experience for the children. Most hadn’t been in the sea before. Some overcame their fear and it was brilliant to see.” George Tomlinson
“The activities were well planned, with professional staff that ensured all the students participated and had a great time. All other students were challenged in a safe and engaging way. There were opportunities for students to push themselves, as individuals, so everyone got something out of this experience. Thanks for an awesome week and we cant wait to see you next year. (Some students have even asked if they can do the trip again.)” Moreton Morrell
“We love the whole programme we had. All of your staff have been superb, very professional, knowledgeable, fun and engaged with the children. The boys have reflected how much they have enjoyed being with TYF staff compared to other places they have been. It makes a real difference when they are not rushed or bossed about, getting encouragement and getting to know them as individuals is truly valued. Passion for the natural connection is a strong foundation for all of the outdoor activities and the boys have come away confident they would like to take each activity a little further next time they are around the beach. We have enjoyed our time once again. Thank you for inspiring us and making our time with you so special.” St Johns
