What we offer on a school trip
Choose from a number of themed education days and enter a reconstructed Iron Age village, completely immersing your class in Prehistory. Costumed Educators will guide you through the Ages, fully in character as Celtic tribespeople. Whether you take on the life of a Neolithic Hunter-Gatherer on a Stone Age Day or prepare for battle on a Boudicca Warrior Day, you are guaranteed a fun and memorable experience.

Celtic Harmony Camp is now in its 25th year of offering WOW Prehistory day trips to schools. Often cited by teachers as their ‘favourite trip of the year’, schools come back time after time to experience the magic of Celtic Harmony. Its staff won Education/ Learning Team of the Year at the 2023 School Travel Awards and they enjoy the perfect setting for outdoor learning, with reconstructed roundhouses and ample woodland space.

Stone Age Day
Target Audience: Key Stage 2

Prehistory Experience
Target Audience: Key Stage 2
Travel from being Neolithic Hunter Gatherers to Bronze Age Potters and Iron Age Farmers in this dynamic journey through a million years of Prehistory. The day starts with a demonstration of the evolution from Stone to Iron showing real metal ores, before your own Prehistory Guide takes you through the ages with hands-on activities including making your own Beaker pot.

Farmer Day
Target Audience: Key Stage 2
Learn hands-on from our Millers, Weavers and Herbalists as you travel from early Neolithic farmers to Iron Age technology! This exciting day will help you work towards many curricular outcomes including, Iron Age hill forts, tribal kingdoms, farming, art and culture.

Boudicca Warrior Day
Target Audience: Key Stage 2

Art in Prehistory Day
Target Audience: Key Stage 2
Embark on a creative journey through a million years of Prehistory Art. Visit the Palaeolithic cave and create 3 pieces of Prehistoric inspired art, from Cave art, to a Bronze Age Beaker Pot and Torc bracelet.

Woodsman Day
Target Audience: Early Years
Play and explore in the woods, guided by our Forest School Practitioners. Get creative and work together with natural resources. Sculpt clay faces on trees, make salt dough Minibeasts, and build mini rafts to sail in the pond.

Chieftain Day
Target Audience: Key Stage 2 & 3
Learn skills from our clan of Archers, Hunters, Warriors, Druids and Craftspeople to become as brave and wise a leader as Boudicca! Work in clans to earn gold coins throughout the day with activities including Fire Lighting and Target Archery.
Group Sizes
Maximum of 150 pupils per day. Each Educator leads a group of no more than 30.
Materials, Resources & Key Stage Information

Photography, Filming & Audio Restrictions
Celtic Harmony Camp hold the copyright for any images taken on their site, but schools are welcome to take pictures for general use.
Risk Assessment
Teachers receive risk assessments after booking as part of the Teacher Pack.

Pricing
Accompanying adults go free, a ratio of 8:1 is recommended. Prices for day trips vary depending on the theme. They range from £17 to £30 per pupil, please check the website for more details.
Until December 2024, Celtic Harmony Camp is able to offer a bursary to all pupils who qualify for Free School Meals, funding their place on a trip (up to 30% of the class).
Clothing Requirements
As Celtic Harmony Camp is an Outdoor site, it is important to dress appropriately for the weather, e.g. raincoats and wellies during wet periods. It is always recommended to wear strong shoes and remember anything worn may come into contact with mud or dirt, due to the nature of the site.
First Aid
There is always a first aid trained member of staff on site, with first aid kits and a defibrillator available around the site.

Accessibility & Disabled Facilities
The site is step free and there is an accessible pathway through the woods. We have a disabled toilet equipped with a grab rail, emergency alarm and shower facility. Celtic Harmony Camp often works with SEN children and are able to make adjustments to days to ensure everyone gets the most out of their visit.

Open to schools during term time 10am to 2:30pm. Staff on site 8-5:30pm.
