What we offer on a school trip
Llain Activity Centre – Welsh Hospitality Awards, ‘Outdoor Venue of the Year 2025’.
At Llain, we have over 30 years’ experience organizing residential schools trips and our residential packages include full board accommodation with a full activity programme. Spread over 10 acres on a former farm, the centre has a homely feel and is away from any other buildings, being surrounded by private land. We have a whole range of activity equipment on site, including a 2-acre lake for our watersports. We can accommodate 120+ in rooms of 4 to 8 with allocated teacher/leader rooms The 5* EHO rated catering block is located in the converted 17th century cowshed and the food regularly gets rave reviews with some schools even trying to poach our catering team! Everything a group needs can be found on site with communal areas, a disco room, a playing field and indoor climbing centre opening in Spring 2026. Camping is also available and we have a Bushcraft camp located on the island accessible only by raft.

What makes us a great choice for educational groups
Clients regularly comment on the ‘homely’ feel of the centre and how it is safe without being ‘corporate’. The site has a natural feel with plenty of space to play and explore.
A full range of activities can be offered on site, but we are only a short walk from the beach and we also offer activities off site, including Sailing and Coasteering. Our Activity Director has over 30 years experience in education being a former teacher and former Head of Outdoor Education Centre for a Local Authority.
What is typically included on our school trips
Our school trip packages typically include full board accommodation and a full activity programme with day and evening instructor led activities. Discounts are available for ‘fringe’ season’ bookings and programmes can be bespoke to suit specific school requirements or budgets.
A typical activity programme for a week stay could include Climbing, High ropes course, Kayaking, Paddle boarding, Archery, Axe throwing, Orienteering, Bushcraft or Forest schools, our very popular Mud assault course as well as evening walks to the beach, fire story time and a Disco.

Group Sizes
Llain can accommodate 120 under ‘hard top’ plus a further 50 under canvass; some schools stay in both swapping half way through the week to give both experiences.
Photography, Filming & Audio Restrictions
Group leaders are welcome to take photos and videos while on site at Llain.
Risk Assessment
Our ‘Centre file’ has all our Risk assessments and ‘Normal Operating Procedures’ and is sent out to schools with all the other paperwork with booking confirmation along with an Independent provider Questionnaire, Leader’s Handbook, Information to parents, Kit list and Medical Consent forms.

A typical 5 day stay in the summer term would be £300+vat per pupil with a sorter 3 day stay priced at around £195+vat per pupil. ‘Fringe season’ deals are available in the Autumn and Spring terms with amazing short term offers in the Winter as low as £95+vat per pupil for a residential stay.
First Aid
There is a First Aid room and all instructing staff are qualified First Aiders. There is always a member of centre staff on site 24 hours a day with transport if required.
Available Facilities
Typical residential trips are fully catered while sports tours often go for part catered and scout, cub groups can go for self catering using our outdoor kitchen facilities including BBQ. There is a dining room and outside picnic bench areas.
In addition to all accommodation having bathroom facilities, there is a camp toilet/shower block. WiFi is limited but available to teachers and leaders.
A small shop offers sweets on request in the evenings and Llain branded gifts.
Accessibility & Disabled Facilities
Dedicated accommodation are ambulant friendly and the camp shower block has a dedicated wet room for wheelchair users.

Further Details
We pride ourselves in personal service, pre and during any residential visit. This can include a Teams meeting or a visit to the school during the planning stage to do a PowerPoint/Q&A presentation to parents and teachers.
We have a centre minibus and can offer more challenging off-site activities to older clients such as Sea kayaking, Sailing, Coasteering and more.

Llain is perfectly located between the seaside towns of Aberaeron and New Quay (Wales) in stunning countryside just a short walk down the bridle path from secluded Cei Bach beach.
Room Sizes and Facilities
There is a wide range of accommodation located around the communal playing field and set in 10 acres of stunning West Wales countryside and surrounded by private farmland. Rooms sleep between 4 and 8 with dedicated teacher rooms and bathroom facilities. Adult rooms are usually provided with kettles, tea and coffee facilities.
An outdoor kitchen with gas BBQ is available to all clients on request as well as a common room / Games area, Fire pit with story circle and a playing field.
