Inspire your pupils by standing at the place where history happened at Stonehenge. Our education offer supports the National Curriculum across a wide range of subjects and all key stages and has been developed to give your learners a deep insight into the history of this world-famous site.

You can lead your visit, your way with our free self-led visits. We offer free entry to pre-booked schools, as well as free planning visits to help you make the most out of your day. Use our free downloadable resources to help with your planning and risk assessments.

Expert-Led Discovery Visits are available at Stonehenge from £100 – £125 per workshop. Students of all ages and abilities can take part in authentic Neolithic activities in our Kusuma Neolithic Hall as well as unleash their creativity and problem-solving skills with our new STEM sessions based in our brand-new Learning Centre. These workshops are linked to the National Curriculum and suit a wide range of learning styles – encouraging active participation, introducing new vocabulary, and developing enquiry skills.

The ratio of adults to children should be:

Ages 4-5 (UK Reception) 1 leader for every 4 students (1:4)

Ages 5-7 (UK Key Stage 1) 1 leader for every 6 students (1:6)

Ages 7-11 (UK Key Stage 2) 1 leader for every 10 students (1:10) and

Ages 11-18 (UK Key Stages 3, 4, and 5) 1 leader for every 15 students (1:15)

Our Teachers’ Kits for Stonehenge have been developed by our Learning Team, who have expertise in education, in collaboration with our historians and site teams. Available to download for free from our website, we have a huge variety of resources to help you and your class enjoy an unforgettable visit.

Children are encouraged to take photos, drawings, music, drama, and other creative work to support and embed learning at historical sites.

Hazard Information sheets are available to help make risk assessments easy. These are emailed, along with your visit ticket, once bookings have been confirmed.

Learning groups can visit any English Heritage historical site FREE of charge.

Expert-Led Discovery Visit Workshops are available at selected sites for a cost of £100 – £125 per school group of up to 30 children. Teachers and adult helpers are free.

Much of the site is exposed and has limited cover.  Wear warm, waterproof clothing in the colder months, and in hot weather, sun cream, sunhats and bottles of water are recommended. Visits are likely to involve a fair amount of walking on uneven ground. Sensible walking shoes are recommended in all seasons.

First aid boxes and first aiders are available.

• STONEHENGE: The stone circle, exhibition and visitor centre are all open for you to enjoy.
• SHUTTLE BUS: The shuttle bus is available for school groups to use.
• PARKING: Free coach parking is available. A maximum parking of 2 hours is allowed on site.
• EDUCATION ROOM: Our education room is not available at this time. Please check this page for future updates.
• TOILETS: There are currently limited toilets available due to site maintenance work so please allow plenty of time for your group to use the facilities. Accessible toilets are available. Additional hand sanitising stations will be available across the site.
• LUNCH: Unfortunately there is no indoor lunch space. A takeaway catering offer will be provided in our outdoor seating area or you are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy near the stones.
• SHOP: As this space can get busy during peak times, we ask that you only bring in groups of 10 max at any one time.
