We believe our programmes should inspire and motivate the continuation of learning, engagement and volunteering beyond the visit, to create lifelong learners who feel confident and happy to access heritage and culture.

We believe that continuing, thoughtful evaluation involving dialogue with participants and partners enables us to focus on constant improvement.

We want to share knowledge gained through engagement and partnership working to benefit all programmes, staff, participants and the wider sector. We will aim to be vocal advocates for effective, inclusive, innovative, high-quality practice.

We constantly aim to find ways to include more voices in the house’s interpretation and, wherever possible, enable people to choose and develop the way they engage with Boston Manor House, as well as our sister site, Hogarth’s House.

We work closely with partners in our local boroughs of Hounslow and Ealing to ensure our programme supports the needs of our surrounding communities. Schools, adults, families and community groups can book onto our programmes or get involved through partnership projects.

We offer workshops that support learning about History, Geography, English and Art & Design, as well as local area studies.

While we have a core offer, we are happy to tailor sessions to meet different age groups or focuses in collaboration with our audiences. We have a wealth of experience in the team, working with learners from all ages, as well as SEND, EAL and PRU students.

The house is over 400 years old and retains many original features, as well as having lots of outdoor space (a 32-acre park!) for additional learning, lunchtime picnics and a place to explore before/after a workshop with us.

All of our learning sessions are led by experienced, talented and engaging educators.

Our offer focuses on KS1 and KS2 currently, but we are really happy to work with KS3+ too, collaborating with teachers on ways to make our content and engagement methods more bespoke for each group.

Our workshops are for groups of up to 30 at a time, though we can cater for multiple groups within one day, so often have 2 or 3 form entry year groups come to us.

There are supporting resources for our sessions and these can be sent directly to teachers or downloaded from our website (from January 2025)

Groups are welcome to take photos, videos and record audio, we just ask that they limit flash use in the historic parts of the house.

We provide a guidance document that suggests some areas teachers may like to consider, but strongly encourage all teachers to come to site to complete their own full risk assessment for their particular group before bringing their students on site.

All workshops are £135 per group of up to 30 (£4.50 per child for a class of 30)

None, though when undertaking our Art and Design workshops, some wet materials like paint, clay and glue are used.

Our staff are first aid trained, but we have a very basic first aid kit on site and expect all school groups to bring their own kit and first aider with them.

We are DDA compliant and all areas of the house are accessible via lift/ramps for anyone using a wheelchair or walking aid. We have 2 accessible toilets.

Tuesday – Sunday, 12noon-5pm (though we can open on a Monday for schools if essential)
