GoSport Activity Centre offers bespoke school day trips for primary and secondary schools from our waterfront base in Gosport. Schools can build a day combining water-based and land-based activities, with pupils split into manageable activity groups and rotating through a programme designed around the school’s aims.

Activities available for school day trips include:

• STEM and LEGO coding activities

Visits can be planned as an adventurous activity day, a curriculum-linked educational visit, or a mixture of both. Programmes are tailored to the age, ability and needs of the pupils.

Our Gosport venue gives schools the opportunity to combine both water sports and land activities at one waterfront site. We provide planning support before the visit, including risk assessments, activity plans, parent information and support with EVOLVE documentation. Pre-visit appointments and staff briefings can also be arranged.

Our team includes experienced, qualified activity instructors and a qualified primary school teacher who can support the design of curriculum-linked programmes. Staff delivering activities are Enhanced DBS checked and trained in First Aid and Safeguarding. Activities can be adapted to age, ability and group needs, including SEND and inclusion requirements where appropriate.

We do not have LOtC. GoSport Activity Centre is AALA licensed for adventurous water sports, is a Paddle UK Delivery Partner and is an Ofsted-registered childcare provider.

School day trips can be designed around the school’s own objectives and age group. Our programmes can support:

Schools can choose an activity-led day or ask us to build a more curriculum-linked programme. Activities are adapted to the age, ability and needs of the group.

We work with both small school groups and large school cohorts. Large groups, including 100+ pupils, can be considered by prior arrangement. For larger visits, pupils are split into smaller groups and rotate through activities across the day. Exact activity group sizes depend on the activities selected, pupil needs and the relevant safety requirements.

All specialist activity and safety equipment required for the activities is provided. We also provide schools with planning resources before the visit, including relevant risk assessments, an example itinerary/programme, parent information, consent information, kit guidance, insurance information and supporting policies.

We maintain detailed activity and venue risk assessments. Schools can access relevant risk assessments before their visit and can use our Teachers’ Visit Risk Assessment Template to support their own educational-visit planning. Current school resources include risk assessments for paddlesports, archery and axe throwing, climbing and fire lighting.

We also provide pre-visit support, including advice on ratios, kit, consent, medical/SEND needs and visit planning. Supporting Health & Safety and insurance documentation is available through the Teachers’ Hub.

A typical full school day trip is around £40 per pupil, excluding VAT. The final price is quoted based on the group size, activities selected and the programme required. Supervising adults are free. Where adventurous activities have low ratios for safety, teachers may not be able to take part without a paid space. For example, our instructor can take a maximum of 8 people on the water.

Clothing requirements depend on the activities selected and schools are provided with kit guidance before the visit.

For water sports, pupils should bring suitable clothing for going on the water (for example a swimming costume/shorts and T-shirt, or their own wetsuit), footwear that can get wet, a spare set of water clothing if required, a towel, a full dry change of clothes and dry shoes.

For land activities, pupils should wear sturdy closed footwear. Crocs, flip-flops, sliders and other open-toe footwear are not suitable. Weather-appropriate clothing, a coat and warm layers should also be brought.

Activity sessions are delivered by staff who are Paediatric First Aid trained.

Facilities at the Gosport site include indoor activity/meeting space, dedicated changing rooms for water sports, indoor unisex toilets, additional outdoor toilets close to activity areas and a refillable water-bottle station. Café and can offer catering options. We have indoor and outdoor available seating for lunches.

We can adapt activities and programmes to age, ability and group needs, including SEND and inclusion support where appropriate. Schools are encouraged to discuss medical, SEND, behavioural or access requirements with us in advance so that suitable adjustments can be planned. We do have wheel chair accessible locations and toilet.

School day trips are available by advance booking. Our Gosport centre typically operates between 09:00 and 17:00.
