Based in acres of Hertfordshire woodland, just an hour from Central London, Rootd Adventure offers immersive, outdoor residentials and adventure days for primary and secondary schools. Our trips give children the chance to switch off from the distractions of daily life, take on new challenges, learn new skills and make some amazing memories together. If you’re looking for a day trip rather than an overnight stay, our affordable, one-day outdoor adventures are a fantastic learning experience for children – giving them all the fun of a Rootd adventure in just one day.

What does our activity centre offer for school trips
Schools choose a Rootd adventure day for a variety of reasons:
- To encourage teamwork and bonding at the beginning of the year
- To celebrate the end of a successful summer term
- To support a curriculum topic and embed new learning
- As a taster for a future residential trip
- If the year group doesn’t have a residential scheduled for the year
Depending on your objectives for the day, when you book an adventure day with us you can choose from one of our three themed adventure days:
Wild survivors
- Children are fully immersed in the natural environment as they learn the essential survival skills needed to thrive in the outdoors, such as fire making, shelter building and outdoor cooking.
Adventurers Unite
- With team challenges and adrenaline-fuelled activities, such as buggy building and navigating the high ropes, collaboration is a must on this action-packed day.
Nature Explorers
- Children are encouraged to explore the woodland as they learn how to identify our local trees, search together for their favourite minibeast friends or take part in a team scavenger hunt.
