Surf Saunton is an accredited surf school based on Saunton Beach in North Devon, offering safe, fully instructed surf sessions for school groups.

All sessions are led by qualified instructors and include equipment, risk assessments and structured delivery for all abilities. With flexible weekday availability, free staff places and exclusive group sessions, we make organising a school trip straightforward and reliable.

With a strong track record of working with schools across the South West, we deliver professionally run surf sessions that prioritise safety, organisation and quality instruction. Our experienced team ensures every visit runs smoothly, giving both students and staff confidence throughout the day.

Our school sessions are tailored to suit different age groups and abilities, typically from upper primary through to secondary level.

Each session includes a structured introduction on the beach, covering safety, equipment use and basic techniques, followed by instructor-led time in the water. As students progress, they are supported in developing confidence, coordination and control in a safe, supervised environment.

All sessions are adapted to ensure they are appropriate for the age, ability and experience level of each group.

We accommodate school groups of 16 to 72 students, with sessions carefully structured to ensure safe and effective delivery.

All groups are supervised using an industry standard ratio of 1 instructor to 8 students. Students are divided into smaller groups based on ability, allowing instructors to provide appropriate support and guidance to each participant throughout the session.

All equipment is provided. High quality winter wetsuits guaranteed to keep students warmer for longer. Surfboards designed for learners, made from a softer material to maximise safety, stability and ease of use.

Groups are very welcome to film or photograph their activities with us.

Surf Saunton can also provide these services upon request.

Swimwear to wear under the wetsuit, towel, sunscreen, and lots of energy!

All of our instructors are National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualified from either SLSGB or RLSS governing bodies. The surf school provides and maintains first aid equipment. The beach is also equipped with a defibrillator.
