One Year of Espionage: SPYSCAPE London Celebrates a Milestone First Year for School Trips

LONDON – It has been nearly a year since the world’s most famous spy museum crossed the Atlantic to open its doors in the heart of Covent Garden. Since its launch in May 2025, SPYSCAPE London has quickly become a premier destination for educators looking to swap traditional classroom learning for high-stakes, immersive missions.

Located in the heart of Covent Garden, we have spent the last 12 months redefining the “educational visit.” Far from a static museum, SPYSCAPE offers a high-tech journey into the world of secrets, designed in collaboration with former MI6 trainers and leading psychologists.

More Than Just Gadgets

While the museum boasts an impressive collection of authentic spy gear and historical artefacts—ranging from Cold War surveillance tools to modern cyber-warfare tech—the real draw for schools is the interactivity.

Students don’t just look at history; they participate in it. Through a series of immersive zones, pupils are challenged to:

  • Crack complex codes and puzzles to test logical thinking.
  • Spot lies and deception using techniques employed by real-world intelligence officers.
  • Make split-second decisions under pressure in cinematic 4XD environments.

The ‘Q Type’ Profile: A New Kind of Assessment

The highlight for many school groups is the Q Type profile. Developed with Professor Adrian Furnham and John Taylor (former Head of Training at MI6), this digital dossier provides every student with a detailed analysis of their unique strengths.

Using data gathered from their performance in the challenges, the profile reveals whether a student is a “Spymaster” an “Intelligence Analyst”, a “Cryptologist” or any one of the 10 Q Type, and how they can apply these learnings to improve their communication and team working with others.
Educators have praised this feature for its ability to spark meaningful conversations back in the classroom regarding personal development, teamwork, and inspiring future career paths.

Curriculum and Skill Building

SPYSCAPE London has tailored its offering to support Key Stage 3 and above, with direct links to several core curriculum areas:

  • STEM: Exploring the science behind encryption, data privacy, and the evolution of technology.
  • PSHE & Citizenship: Focusing on ethics, empathy, risk awareness, and resilience.
  • Computing: Understanding cybersecurity, hacking, and the digital landscape.
  • Social Skills: Promoting collaboration and communication through team-based missions.
