Lee Valley VeloPark is thrilled to announce the launch of a new Learn to Cycle programme, a fun, educational, and confidence-building cycling pathway designed for children aged 2 to 12.
The former London 2012 Games venue and host of several UCI Track Champions League events, Lee Valley VeloPark, managed by GLL, a charitable social enterprise and worker-owned cooperative operating under the community brand Better.
Whether your child is hopping onto a balance bike for the first time or looking to master BMX, mountain biking, road, or track cycling, the programme offers a safe, supportive environment where young riders can develop skills, build confidence and fall in love with the sport.
The programme features:
- Foundation (Ages 18 months+) – Balance, steering, gliding, braking and first pedals
- Development (Ages 6+) – Choose BMX, MTB, Road or Track; build skills like cornering, jumping, race tactics and group riding
- Academy (Ages 10+) – For aspiring racers, with advanced coaching and competition support
Keith Griffiths, General Manager at Lee Valley VeloPark, said: “Whether your child is just starting out or already cycling with confidence, our Learn to Cycle programme offers a fun, structured pathway for every child to progress while enjoying the sport.”
Shaun Dawson, Chief Executive at Lee Valley Regional Park Authority added: “Lee Valley VeloPark was built for legacy from the 2012 Games and offers cycling opportunities for everyone, from first time riders to those at the peak of the sport.
“We’re proud to devote 90% of the programme at Lee Valley VeloPark to community, club and school activity, breaking down barriers so that people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities can experience the joy of cycling.
“The new Learn to Cycle programme is an extension of our ongoing commitment to deliver an inclusive venue with community use at the heart and opportunities for young talent to develop in a truly inspirational setting.”
