What we offer on a school trip
We offer a wide range of activities which can be incorporated into your bespoke programme. We place a great deal of importance upon the skills developed during these activities reflecting on what has been learnt at the end of each session.
A sample of our activities include: archery; low ropes; nightline; team building exercises; orienteering; woodland walk; pond dipping; rocket building; camp fire; scavenger hunt; swimming; pioneering; bushcraft; den building and new for 2017... Jacob's Ladder! This is a giant swinging ladder and is our most physical and challenging activity yet. It involves agility, great communication and strength. Up to 3 people climb at once with the rest of the team getting involved by holding the ropes and cheering their classmates on! Our fully qualified instructor team can work with groups of all ages and abilities.
Learning Away have shown that planning a Brilliant Residential can: improve relationships between teachers and pupils; improve engagement; improve behaviour; create a greater sense of belonging; raise aspirations; significantly boost SATs progress and significantly improve students' transition experiences.

What makes us a great choice for education?
We adapt our programmes and vary the style of delivery to ensure that we provide exactly what your group needs. At Woodrow we give young people a safe, but real, taste of adventure - boosting their self-confidence and encouraging them to try new experiences. All our programmes include problem solving tasks which help young people to play a more effective role in a team. As well as being educational, children have a fun and enjoyable experience in the outdoors.
What is typically included on our school trips?
Each educational visit is a unique experience. We adapt our programmes and vary the style of delivery to ensure that we provide exactly what your group needs. We have a variety of groups that visit Woodrow, each with differing educational outcomes. In recent years groups have visited us to primarily focus on ecology - these groups carried out activities such as: pond dipping; woodland walk and mini-beast hunt. We have had groups visiting us with the aim to improve employability skills? such as team-work and communication. We also have a number of groups who visit us for revision weekends - combining classroom based learning with outdoor activity fun.
Your day trip will include a total of 3-4 activities of your choice, dependent on arrival and departure times.
If there are various options, for instance for different key stages, or for different curriculum topics, then please write as many as you want to include. If you tailor each visit specifically to the needs of the group then please also mention this.

Testimonials
The instructors are reliable, skilled and clearly well managed. They know what is supposed to be happening, they lead activities well and they are endlessly patient with queries from staff and children. The food is excellent and the catering staff efficient, friendly and humorous, and although we didn?t meet the housekeeping staff we found the house and facilities clean and well looked after. The staff are clearly a team and they couldn?t do enough for us. Weston Turville School
From point of contact those who supported with the administration of planning our visit were patient, prompt with replying, flexible with the numerous changes/requests we made and of course polite and professional. On arrival we found the team who dealt with our all girl group, some of which who have never camped before, just as fantastic as their colleagues. Woodrow is equally beautiful, clean and suitably equipped for our activity and camping needs. I found the team to be welcoming, well trained, polite and patient.
