Monkton Wyld Court Residential School Trips Dorset is a beautiful and peaceful residential centre hidden away by the Jurassic coast in Dorset.

Many people that keep coming back to us enjoy the atmosphere and feel of the place that they don’t get from other places. People often find the place tranquil and calming. We are hidden away in a gorgeous valley.

We have several rooms around our house that can be used for breakout sessions for smaller group work. The largest and most popular of the spaces is the Pine Hall, just outside the main house and rented separately. This measures 13m x 7m and has a stage with a piano and a sprung wooden floor suitable for dancing. The second is the Old Library on the ground floor of the main house, overlooking the terraces. No longer active as a library, this measures 8.5m x 6m and is a light, elegant and almost-empty room with a large bay window. Both spaces come pre-heated when needed by cosy wood-burning stoves, have adjacent toilets, and can be furnished with cushions or chairs/tables for seating and/or working.

There is also a space in the house called The Piano Room which has comfy couches, a baby grand piano and is great for informal small group work.

We have large grounds that can be used for activities, especially our 100ft x 30ft lawn and adjacent terraces. We have an on-site vegetable garden which we use to grow our food. The garden could be used for any garden based activities as we have a large amount of space and two poly tunnels.

We are 2.5 miles from Charmouth and 3.5 miles from Lyme Regis. Two towns that are well known beaches on the Jurassic coast.

We have 33 individual beds, five of which are doubles. We also have about three campbeds which we have put up in The Old Library to make a new bedroom previously.

We have a variety of room sizes and configurations. One single. Three twins (two single beds in a room). Two doubles (one double bed in each room). Three triples (one with three single beds and two with a double and a single). Two quads (one with four singles and one with a double and two singles) and two fives (two rooms with five single beds a piece).

Our regular rental price for the house per night is £1300 but we want to price lower for school groups so we were thinking about £950 as an introductory offer price and the £1050 but we’re not sure if this is still too high. We don’t want to make ourselves inaccessible but also don’t want to be giving the space away.

Whole house hire inc grounds: £950 (introductory rate) £1050 after that

Cost to rent the Old Catering Kitchen: £100 per night

Cost to rent The Pine Hall: £100 per night (The Pine Hall can also be rented for £15 per hour)

We have a first aid kit in the main house, one in our dining room, our kitchens and our outdoor area.

We do have a couple of first aid community members on site but a group will need to bring their own as there’s no guarantee that someone qualified will be available

We have a large visitors’ dining room area, we have a table tennis table which can be used by visiting groups, there is free Wifi around the house and a very large social area outside on our camping area including an old summer house, and two fire pits.

There’s one toilet on the ground floor of the house and two each on the first and second floor.

We also have two compost loos in the grounds.

We can offer self-catering or catering options. With catering we can offer breakfast, packed lunches and an evening meal. The breakfast would be self service and included in the BnB price. Packed lunches or on-site lunch would cost £6.

Breakfast: This is self service and includes fresh bread, spreads, fruit, cereal, eggs.

A packed lunch would be a roll from a local bakery with the options being cheese, egg, peanut butter, hummus etc with a juice carton, fruit, crisps and flapjack. An on-site lunch would usually be a soup or something light like frittata or quiche. The lunch is usually served with salad sides and fresh bread. Dinner is £15 and served at 6pm and is usually something like a lasagne, shepherd’s pies, jacket potatoes etc. Dinner is served with sides and a dessert. We are flexible with food as the needs change from group to group. We can also cater for any dietary requirements eg gluten free or vegan. All of our meals are freshly prepared.

Any children aged 12 & under are charged half price.

We are open all year round. There is a live-in community on site so we don’t close, someone is always available.

We are located opposite an 18th century church that was built at the same time as our large house. We are a 3 minute drive from the fossil rich beaches of Charmouth and Lyme Regis.
