With each of our Hilltop Lodges proudly named after famous Scottish surfing beaches, our high-quality accommodation allows you to have an unforgettable experience in one of the most unique settings in the world!
The luxury Hilltop Lodges, they provide the perfect base to kick back, relax and immerse yourself in Lost Shore Surf Resort and the local area.
Our four bedroom luxury lodges are designed for families and groups, and cater for your every need. The stylish interiors, open plan living and modern furnishings make them an ideal retreat to relax after an exciting day at Lost Shore. Located on the hilltop, just a 10 min walk from the car park (luggage transport can be arranged), our lodges have amazing views overlooking the Cove and our extensive grounds, as well as views across the hills.

Group sizes


Maximum numbers are 32 (plus accompanying adult). Please note we require a supervising adult to stay in each lodge. For example, 20 pupils will require 5 adult supervisors.

School group will enjoy the 4 bedroom Hilltop lodges. They comprise of 2 double rooms (both en-suite) and 2 twin rooms. The twin rooms will share one family bathroom. A link to the floor plan can be found here.

Catering options


The hilltop lodges contain a kitchen and so therefore, self-catering is an option. There is a residential menu (breakfast, lunch and dinner) which costs £25 pp.
Accessibility & Disabled Facilities


Lost Shore Surf Resort is a world class facility, which has held inclusivity and accessibility as key guiding principles, since its inception.
Surfing has traditionally been a sport which has had many barriers to participation, both physical and perceived. Lost Shore are committed to identify those barriers and removing them wherever possible.
- Parking – 16 blue badge parking spaces at the main entrance, along with coach/minibus spaces and EV charging.
- Accommodation – 6 fully accessible Waterfront Lodges (Armadilla Kurvs). From mid-November 2024 (date tbc), one will be fitted with a hoist for easier bed access.
- Pathways – wide, 250m, gentle gradient tarmac road leading down to the HUB Building. Mixed slopes and surfaces around the country park, with ongoing improvements.
- Buildings – single storey buildings with shallow ramps, wheelchair accessibility, QR code ordering, gender neutral toilets, accessible and baby change facilities.
- Changing Area – accessible showers, accessible toilets, accessible changing area, baby change facilities, family changing area and private cubicles.
- Waterfront Area – smooth tarmac beach front with minimal gradient, access ramps, inclusive and para surfing sessions in collaboration with Inclusive Surfing Scotland.
- Commitment to Accessibility – shared focus on removing physical and perceived barriers to surfing and an ongoing process to identify and improve accessibility areas.

All workshops are led by a qualified teacher who has many years experience working with young people and is happy to discuss how to ensure all activities are inclusive for any young person with additional learning needs.

Our resort is open every day from 8:00am – 11:00pm.
Surf lessons & sessions run from 9:00am until dark.

Located in Ratho, we are a 10 minute drive from Edinburgh airport and less than 5 miles from Scotland’s main motorway systems: M8, M9 and Edinburgh city bypass. We are located between Edinburgh (25 minute drive) and Glasgow (45 minute drive).

- Free parking is available and our main car park is a 200m walk from our entrance building.
- By Bus: Catch the Lothian bus service 70 from Hermiston Park & Ride to Halcroft Park in Ratho (a 10 minute journey). From here, walk 600m along Halcroft Path to Lost Shore. See the number 70 bus timetable here.
- By Tram: Catch the Edinburgh tram from central Edinburgh to The Gyle. Walk to the bus stop Gyle Centre (KF) and board the number 70 bus to Halcroft Park. From here, walk 600m along Halcroft Path to Lost Shore. See the number 70 bus timetable here.
- By Bike: Cycle along the Union canal and take the stairs up to the EICA. Go past the car park and we’re just around the corner. If arriving by E-Bike, we would advise leaving the cycle path at Ratho Marina and following the road to Halcroft Park, to avoid the steep access at EICA from Tow Path.
