We are a quality budget accommodation provider, and our Hostel has a home from home feel, unlike many functional and somewhat clinical residential centres designed for groups of young people. We provide comfortable seating, plenty of sockets and USB ports in the communal lounge as well as a large smart TV and plenty of books and games. We even have piano and a guitar.
Centrally located with cafes pubs and restaurants within walking distance. A large communal kitchen and comfortable living space to eat and relax. Well-appointed rooms, many with en-suite facilities and dorm rooms with bunks that have privacy screens, reading lights with USB ports. A short drive to amazing surfing beaches and next to the Southwest coastal path.

Ilfracombe Aquarium – located in the harbour this award winning and ever evolving educational attraction consists of local aquatic exhibits.
Boat trips – from Ilfracombe harbour throughout the summer months you can take Rib boat sea safaris on ribs or wildlife cruises.
Watermouth Castle theme park – a Victorian castle and theme park with a Toboggan run, Big River Ride, mini golf and much more plus 17 acres of dog friendly gardens.
North Devon wake park and water sports centre – wake boarding and other sports also has a giant aquapark inflatable.
Water sports – Woolecombe, Croyde & Saunton Sands offer Surfing for all abilities. From Ilfracombe there is Kayaking, coasteering, standup paddleboarding and sea swimming.
Art & Culture – Ilfracombe is home to Verity a 2012 stainless steel and bronze statue created by Damien Hirst. The 20.25-metre tall sculpture stands on the pier at the entrance to the harbour in Ilfracombe. The town is littered with art galleries and holds an annual arts trail in early May.
Exmoor National Park – towering sea cliffs, high moors, tumbling stream and deep valleys shelter a unique Atlantic Rain forest. some of the best dark skies in the country for star gazing.
Braunton Burrows – a vast internationally significant sand dune system in North
Davon, recognised as the core area of the UNESCO North Devon Biosphere Reserve. One of the largest dune systems in the British Isles, it spans over 1,000
hectors, featuring diverse wildlife, unique flora, and 3.5 mile long sandy beach at Sauton Sands. North Devon Coast National Landscape (ANOB) and UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, it serves as a critical, protected, and tranquil natural habitat.
Hartland Point, Baggy Point, and Morte Point – dramatic coastal landscapes and examples of how the coastline shifts between towering cliffs and sweeping bays.
Hartland Quay – Devonian rocks dating back over 400 million years this area is famous for its folded rock strata, providing insights into Earths tectonic history. The cliffs along the coast exhibit complex rock formations, including fossil-rich limestone, slate, and sandstone, allowing geologists to study ancient marine environments.
Clovelly & Lynton – As well as being very beautiful places to visit the cliffs around these towns are subject to significant coastal erosion. This dynamic process continues to shape the coastline, providing ongoing research opportunities in geomorphology and environmental sciences.
Lee Bay – is geographically significant as a sheltered, rocky cove characterized by its unique ‘Fuchsia Valley’ microclimate, rich inter-tidal biodiversity, and 350-million-year-old geological formations.
Lundy – An island in the Bristol channel that you can visit by boat from Ilfracombe harbour during the summer months. It is a paradise for nature lovers, hikers, offering dramatic scenery, abundant wildlife (puffins, seals, ponies), historic sites like Marisco
Castle, and a wonderfully remote, car-free escape. The sea surrounding Lundy is a highly protected Marine Protected Area (MPA) where no fishing or wildlife removal is permitted.

We have 36 beds (plus 3 trundles) and capacity with 7 Doubles makes capacity 46.
Risk Assessment
We do a bi- annual risk assessments for the hostel but do not provide a specific one for schools. We are happy to complete one they provide and have done this for schools in the past.
Pricing
Minimum charge for exclusive hire;
£750 (Sun-Thurs)
£875 (Friday/Sat)
There is usually a minimum stay of 2 nights.
Additional beds up to capacity are charged at £25pppn.
*These prices are application for term time only.
During school holidays group bookings start at £875.
We require a 25% deposit on booking and the balance is due in full 8 weeks prior to arrival.
We also require a property bond of up to £400 depending on the length of stay and the size of the group, that is returned in full after departure as long as the hostel is left as found and all the house rules adhered to. This must be paid with the balance.
We have resident staff who may remain onsite during your stay but who have their own private room and bathroom and use of a private kitchen.

The group must bring a qualified first aider. We have first aid kit.

Accessibility & Disabled Facilities
The Hostel is a very old building with 3 floors, a narrow staircase and split-level living area. Sadly it is not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

Location Details
There is a church hall opposite the Hostel that can be hired if needed and there are Cafes that can do catering for packed lunches.
There is a public car park directly behind the hostel and we can usually offer a space for one large vehicle with exclusive hire.
There is coach parking at the local leisure centre and near lidl.
