What makes us a great choice for school trips & educational groups
For over 87 years YHA has existed to create unique opportunities for young people to discover new places, enjoy fresh challenges and broaden their horizons through thrilling activities and transformational educational experiences in the great outdoors.
Instead of climbing an indoor wall, your pupils could be scrambling up a rock face, abseiling down a viaduct or canoeing on a real river. Add to that options including searching for life on the seashore, taking part in mediaeval banquets, or learning the art of teamwork, and you’ve got the makings of a truly unforgettable school trip.
We have:
• Over 70 LOtC accredited sites and counting
• A wide range of properties, varying in size from 10s to 100s of beds in inspiring locations throughout England and Wales
• Sole use is available if you want the hostel to yourselves
• Free places are available for young people who qualify through our Breaks programmes
• Free planning visits
• Free teacher places
Still not sure? We run a series of familiarisation events throughout the year that will be perfect for you! Join us as we invite teachers/group leaders and their families to get first-hand experience of YHA, try the activities available, and stay overnight. It’s the ideal way to find out more about YHA School Trips.
Group Sizes
Our hostels range in size. The smallest in the network have approximately 20 beds and the largest well over 100. Social spaces are generous and many offer grounds that you are free to explore.
