The Canterbury Tales Immersive Experience offers immersive educational school trips in the heart of historic Canterbury, where students step back into medieval England and experience Geoffrey Chaucer’s famous stories brought to life through recreated scenes, atmospheric sound, projection mapping, holograms, special effects, and costumed actors who help bring the show to life.
Our core experience takes students on a journey alongside Chaucer’s pilgrims, introducing them to medieval life, literature, and history in a fun and engaging way. The attraction supports learning across English Literature, History, Drama, and Religious Studies, making it suitable for primary, secondary, post-16, college, and university groups.
Educational workshops and tailored learning sessions can also be arranged on request to enhance the visit further. We can also provide teacher resources and supporting educational materials to help schools prepare for and continue learning after their visit.

Group sizes
School groups are admitted in groups of 10 students every 10 minutes to ensure the best possible experience throughout the attraction. Larger groups can therefore be accommodated through staggered entry times across the duration of the visit.
Materials provided
Yes. Teacher resources and supporting educational materials can be provided to help schools prepare for their visit and continue classroom learning afterwards.
Photography, filming & audio restrictions
Photography and filming are not permitted during the show. Flash photography is also prohibited in order to preserve the immersive experience for all visitors. Due to copyright restrictions, audio and video recording is not allowed. Schools wishing to arrange any photography or filming should contact us in advance to discuss requirements and permissions

We can provide a risk assessment and specific schools risk assessment however we do invite teachers to conduct their own.

Due to the historic nature of our 900-year-old building, some areas of The Canterbury Tales Experience are unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. The attraction includes uneven surfaces, low lighting, and stairs as part of the immersive medieval environment.
We are committed to supporting all visitors wherever possible and encourage schools to contact us in advance to discuss specific access requirements so we can advise on suitability and any adjustments that may be available.
