What we offer on a school trip
Willows Activity Farm, Hertfordshire offers curriculum-linked activities for Early Years Learning to KS1. Pupils will discover farmyard animals, enjoy endless fun activities through demonstrations, interactive shows, tractor rides, adventure play & more!
You may choose to self guide your group or, for an additional fee, you can opt to include our curriculum led guided visit for either Early Years or Key Stage 1. This includes a trained Willows Educational Group Guide to deliver the curriculum led activities at the Farm Park on the day of your visit as well as pre and post visit curriculum linked activities to do with the children at nursery/ school together.
We recommend a maximum of 30 children per guide.

We offer curriculum-linked activities for Early Years Learning and KS1. We will email teacher resources to use in the classroom to plan for the trip and to follow up after the trip including; What Animals & Birds, Animals On The Farm, Breeds Of Birds & Animals, Songs On The Farm, Name The Animals, Animals Need and Match The Parent.
With so many children growing up in urban areas, a visit to Willows allows young minds to explore the countryside, its animals, where the food they eat comes from, how animals and humans work together and the importance of outdoor activity.

Learning through Discovery
Discover the many wonderful animals at Willows as your curriculum guide* explains all about them, how they are looked after, what they like to eat and the importance of animals to the countryside.
Children can meet rabbits, lambs, goats and ducks in The Farmyard, plus some bigger farm animals including sheep, pigs, cows and alpacas in our paddocks around the Activity Farm.

Our friendly guides ensure that children gain the maximum benefit from their visit as they show you around the Farm Village answering all your questions. Guides can be booked on our website at the same time as your Group Booking.
Indoor Play and Captain Chicken’s Egg Dodge
Teachers/ Group Leaders have the option, at their discretion, to take their group into our indoor soft play and Captain Chicken’s Egg Dodge. Guides are not responsible for the group should they enter either activity. Height restrictions apply. Arms and legs must be covered to ride the slides in soft play.
All shows, events and activities are subject to seasonal programme changes and are dependent on weather conditions.
Group Sizes
Our discounted group rates are applicable to educational groups of a minimum of 15 paying children. Maximum group size on request.
Materials, Resources & Key Stage Information
Material for the Early Learning Years and KS1 activities are included for Educational Group Visits that add a Curriculum Guide to their booking. These will be emailed to you before your visit and included pre and post visit activities.
All our guides will also provide you with relevant information and answer questions during your visit.
Photography, Filming & Audio Restrictions
You are allowed to take pictures of the animals and facilities at Willows and children in your own group only or as advised under the school/group photographic policy.
Risk Assessment
Willows Activity Farm provides a risk assessment for educational group visits. We also welcome visits by group leaders/ teachers to undertake their own risk assessment and do a familiarisation visit prior to their visit. You can book your complimentary familiarisation visit by emailing groups@willowsactivityfarm.com
Risk Assessment visits only during weekdays during term time.
Education Officer
We do not have a dedicated education officer but a group booking advisor and support from all the regulatory bodies to undertaken group bookings.
Pricing
There is a minimum of 15 child admissions. We offer one free adult for every 5 paying children. Under 2’s are free.

Your visit includes free coach parking, health and safety briefing, entry to Willows Activity Farm, full use of all activities and rides, risk assessment available, free familiarisation visits for group leaders prior to the visit* and covered lunch area.
The bookings can only be made online and paid for in advance.
Clothing Requirements
We recommend that children bring strong outdoor shoes or wellington boots for their visit depending on the time of year. This is a countryside location and the ground can be uneven and muddy. We also suggest a rainproof jacket.
Socks must be worn and arms and legs covered to ride some of the slides in our indoor play area. Nylon sportswear not allowed on the slides.

We have qualified First Aiders on site at all time.

Accessibility & Disabled Facilities
We provide disabled parking and toilets with disabled access. As a countryside location the ground is bumpy but can be navigated in a wheelchair with care.
