Weardale uses natural outdoor activities to help grow, engage students of all ages and delivers safe and challenging educational experiences to school groups. Accommodation group comprises of 87 beds for 78 students/children and 9 teachers/leaders.

What does your accommodation centre offer school trips


The Centre is comfortable and spacious, sleeping over 80 people. Spread across three floors, the accommodation includes a pleasant staff room, large common room, kitchen and dining room and the upper two floors are exclusively bedrooms and bathrooms.
Our residentials are fully catered, with all dietary requirements catered for.
We use natural outdoor activities to help grow, engage and enthuse children and are proud to hold a LOtC accreditation which shows our passion for outdoor learning.

What makes you a great accommodation choice for educational groups


A family run business that puts the school/group at the forefront of the residential. We pride ourselves in offering a bespoke trip to the needs of the school/group. We sit on 5 acres of land and are situated in beautiful countryside in the north east of England.
We focus on the fun and educational aspect on our residentials, working with the school/group before, during and after the residential to ensure the best possible experience.
We also don’t charge for staff places on our residentials.
On site activities


Onsite – Archery Tag, Team Games, High Ropes, Bushcraft, Trailblazer, Crate Stack, Scavenger Hunt, Treasure Chest Challenge, Orienteering, Crazy Olympics. Large field for football and other team games. Games room with Pool Table and Table Tennis. Common room with projector for movies and quizzes.
Offsite (all within a max of 20 mins away) – Paddleboarding, Canoeing, Raft Building, Climbing, Gorge Walking, River Adventure, Adventure Trek, Mine Exploration, Caving, Hill Walking. Swim Safe

Rooms are a mix of bunk beds over 2 floors, ranging from staff bedrooms of 2 to 3 and kids bedrooms ranging in size from 4 bedspaces to 14 bedspace rooms.
Risk assessment


Risk Assessments provided to schools for Evolve as and when requested. Risk assessments are reviewed annually and when any changes are carried out to an activity/area.
Photography, Filming & Audio Restrictions


Pictures and filming are encouraged, and permission is obtained through our consent form before posting anything on social media.

Pricing


- Prices are based off the requirements of the school/group and length of stay.
- As a guide the following is our standard pricing for 2026
- 3 day residential – 4 day time activities and 2 night activities, all meals and accommodation – £260pp (inc VAT)
- 5 Day residential – 8-day time activities and 4-night activities, all meals and accommodation – £380pp (inc VAT)
- We offer free staff places for all residentials – within reason, excessive numbers of staff just need to be discussed with us first as we appreciate that some schools/groups need additional staff support.
First Aid


First aid boxes on each floor of the accommodation and in the visiting staff room. First aid equipment is taken on all activities by staff.
All instructional staff are Level 3 Outdoor First Aid trained.
Available facilities


Games room with a pool table, table tennis, table football and outdoor games equipment. Common room with chill out chairs and tables for playing a selection of card and board games and a projector for educational workshops and movie nights.
Outdoor changing rooms and showers.
Large playing field and grounds for various games and relaxing with friends during free time.
Tuck shop available on request with a variety of fizzy drinks, chocolate bars, sweets and souvenirs.
Tea, coffee, squash and water available 24/7.
Hot chocolate and biscuits for after evening activities for staff to make drinks for the groups.
Staff room for visiting staff to utilise with a fridge.
Shoe area to store indoor shoes separately from outdoor shoes.
Catering options


Fully catered for all meals, all dietary and allergy needs met. We send out menu choices prior to the trips to ensure everyone is catered for.
Accessibility & Disabled Facilities


Wheelchair access to the lower floor and outdoor changing rooms only. We currently don’t have a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

We cater for so many different schools and groups that we pride ourselves on offering a unique experience to everyone who comes to us.
We visit schools to present to parents and children to give them an insight into what they will be doing on the residential. We also encourage School staff/group leaders to come up and visit us to have a look around before making a decision.
