We have designed several packages to encourage students to take part in hands-on and unique learning experiences that embrace learning and surfing. Our primary learning focuses include STEM innovation, wellbeing, and, of course, learning to surf!

Lost Shore is the world’s first inland surf resort, based in Edinburgh, offering something for everyone. Three times the size of Wembley football pitch, it is Europe’s largest wave pool and one of the most advanced on the planet.

This state-of-the-art technology generates up to 1,000 waves per hour, ensuring endless thrills for surfers of all levels!

Not only is this the first customised wave generation technology for surfing, it’s also the most sustainable solution in the industry, consuming less energy than a single chairlift at a ski resort! It also uses up to 10x less energy per wave than some existing wave producing facilities.

We have a number of workshops aligned to the Curriculum for Excellence covering Literacy, Science, Technology, Engineering, Math’s and Social Sciences.

The workshops are currently aimed at Level 2 and 3/4 in Scotland and KS2 and 3 in England/ Wales.

Minimum of 8 pupils and maximum of 32 pupils. Please note, capacity for numbers surfing in one session is 32.

STEM workshops are aligned to the Curriculum for Excellence, the National Curriculum of Scotland. Each workshop will be tailored to the appropriate Level and will include follow up materials and tasks. Workshops have been designed by the Educational Outreach Manager who has worked with a variety of experts in different fields to ensure the content is engaging and enjoyable.

The Wellbeing workshop was designed by a PhD of Surf Therapy to design a session that combines surf therapy principles with techniques that can be used in daily life. For more detail, the brochure can be found on the website.

With over 12 years of experience as a science teacher, Suzi has always been passionate about creating opportunities for learning beyond the classroom.

Having closely followed the development of Lost Shore Surf Resort from its inception, Suzi was inspired by the idea of using this incredible setting to combine STEM education and wellbeing into a single, dynamic school programme.

We are a cashless venue.

All equipment (wetsuits/ boots/ gloves/ hoods and helmets) is provided for surf sessions.

All you need to bring is a swimsuit and a towel.

We have qualified first aiders on site.

Retail shop, restaurant/ café with food from three seasonal kitchens, outdoor dining areas (for consumption of packed lunches), toilets, accessible changing/ toilet facilities, unisex changing areas, event studio, cashless site, free WIFI, secure lockers.

Lost Shore Surf Resort is a world class facility, which has held inclusivity and accessibility as key guiding principles, since its inception.

Surfing has traditionally been a sport which has had many barriers to participation, both physical and perceived. Lost Shore are committed to identify those barriers and removing them wherever possible.

• Parking – 16 blue badge parking spaces at the main entrance, along with coach/minibus spaces and EV charging.
• Accommodation – 6 fully accessible Waterfront Lodges (Armadilla Kurvs). From mid-November 2024 (date tbc), one will be fitted with a hoist for easier bed access.
• Pathways – wide, 250m, gentle gradient tarmac road leading down to the HUB Building. Mixed slopes and surfaces around the country park, with ongoing improvements.
• Buildings – single storey buildings with shallow ramps, wheelchair accessibility, QR code ordering, gender neutral toilets, accessible and baby change facilities.
• Changing Area – accessible showers, accessible toilets, accessible changing area, baby change facilities, family changing area and private cubicles.
• Waterfront Area – smooth tarmac beach front with minimal gradient, access ramps, inclusive and para surfing sessions in collaboration with Inclusive Surfing Scotland.
• Commitment to Accessibility – shared focus on removing physical and perceived barriers to surfing and an ongoing process to identify and improve accessibility areas.

All workshops are led by a qualified teacher who has many years experience working with young people and is happy to discuss how to ensure all activities are inclusive for any young person with additional learning needs.

Our resort is open every day from 8:00am – 11:00pm.
Surf lessons & sessions run from 9:00am until dark.
