What we offer on our school trip
Tapnell Farm is an award-winning destination set in beautiful rural countryside on the Isle of Wight, with stunning sea views.
Family run and formerly one of the biggest dairy farms on the Island, over the last 10 years, Tapnell has transformed into the Isle of Wight’s leading eco-tourism business.
We have lots of great activities on site that suit a variety of year groups and abilities. Spend the day at Tapnell and give your students fantastic experiences with lasting memories.
We are very happy to facilitate site visits to show school representatives around prior to their school trip (free of charge). Risk assessments and essential documents are also provided in advance (and will be available to download from website shortly)
Our attractions include:
Tapnell Farm Park
An all-weather attraction with plenty of play areas, indoors and out, to keep everyone entertained: pedal go-karts, jumping pillows, crazy golf, zip wires, sledge slides, trampolines and straw play barn, plus amazing animals in the paddocks (including wallabies and meerkats) and animal barn.
We provide fantastic educational experiences for all age groups, based around our animals and the farm.
There is a daily schedule of animal talks your group is able to attend – for bigger groups we may schedule a private talk for your visit.
Duration: 3.5 hour sessions. Morning 10:00am-1:30pm or afternoon 1:30pm-5:00pm.
Target Year Groups: Nursery – Year 6. Any year group is welcome!
Teacher Supervision: 1 teacher per 10 students as a minimum. Younger year groups will require 1 teacher per 5 students.
Aqua Park
The Island’s only outdoor Aqua Park with over 20 obstacles to tackle – and lots of fun! Wetsuits and buoyancy aids provided. Facilities include changing rooms, showers and toilets (split male/female)
Participants do need to be able to swim and would ideally be water confident. Our staff are very happy to provide support and encouragement to those less confident swimmers – they have more to gain from an experience at the Aqua Park – what a confidence builder!
Duration: 2 hours. 50 minutes on the inflatables after a safety briefing with 30 minutes either side for changing.
Target Year Groups: Year 5 – Year 11 (minimum age 7).
Maximum Group Size: 80 (7 teachers and 73 students).
Minimum Group Size: 40 paying participants required.
Teacher Supervision: 1 teacher on the Aqua Park per 10 students.
Football Golf
Our 18-hole Football Golf course – the only one on the Island – is a great and easy choice for a school visit. This activity is great fun and caters to a wide range of skills and abilities – it is what you make it. For some students it will be a serious competition – for others it will simply be great fun and a chance to have a laugh with peers.
Duration: varies depending on group size and skill – allow 1.5 hours.
Target Year Groups: Year 3 – Year 11.
Maximum Group Size: We recommend no more than 60 on the course.
Archery & Axe Throwing / Target Sports
Archery + Axe Throwing at Tapnell Farm are all-weather Target Sports, run from our purpose-built ranges, housed inside a covered barn.
Archery
Book a schools session lead by one of our experienced instructors. Your group will learn the basics of Archery and improve their technique through the session.

Maximum Group Size: 15.

Target Year Groups: Year 7 – Year 11 (minimum age 11).
Maximum Group Size: 24.
