What are our school workshops like?
Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre tells the dramatic story of the Battle of Bosworth, which took place on Monday 22nd August 1485 - an event beyond living memory which is of national and global significance. Set in the beautiful Leicestershire landscape, the Centre offers a range of indoor and outdoor activities which interprets the story from the start of the Wars of the Roses through to the battle, and its aftermath. This will extend pupils’ understanding and knowledge to the time of the Tudors and their legacy, including the development of the church, state, and society in medieval Britain from 1066 to 1509.
But the site also has another string to its bow – the site’s Roman History. Long before the Battle of Bosworth took place, the site housed an important Roman Temple. Tying into this, the site’s Roman character-led session explores the Roman Empire and its impact on Britain, the power of the Roman army, and the reality of Roman life in Britain.
