School Trip Farms

School trip farms are a very important hands on learning experience and benefits pupils and students alike from immersing themselves in experiencing a working farm in its environment plus you get to learn outside of the classroom. Working farms are located up and down the country in rural and urban environments and offer pupils and students different experiences, weather its from early years to primary, secondary and post 16 there is something for all ages of the education spectrum.

Working farms can provide many experiences while on your educational farm trip such as provide hands on stimulating activities that support the national curriculum during and after the visit, support the outdoor classroom, contribute to the development of social and personal skill sets.

Pupils and students will cover key stage subject areas such as where food comes from, nutrition and something close to my heart animal welfare, sustainability of the industry and another very important area conservation. Pupils will learn and identify the fine balance of the industry and the impacts on the natural environment, husbandry, biodiversity, rural affairs, agriculture, rural people in their environment and for primary years especially animal worships where you get to handle and feed animals.  For post 16 students it’s a fantastic In-Site into the farming industry and what careers and the countryside can offer.

Working farms can offer and cover many learning opportunities on your school trip one of them is applied science in agriculture covering fascinating topics such as microbes in food production, Health of plants and animals, biosecurity, assessment of nutrients, environmental risk management of pollutants, Intensive and organic farming, Optimising photosynthesis and energy resources such as Biofuels from crop production, plant growth by measuring nutrients in soil and fertilisers.
