A school trip to live theatre can help increase literary knowledge, and can also improve tolerance and promote empathy among students by being better able to recognise and appreciate what others think and feel. Theatre visits and art venues bring play and humour and laughter to learning, leading to motivation and improved self-esteem, successfully teaching social awareness through poems, stories, legends and myth. Many schools use theatre related activities as stimulus, interlinked with various Key stages 1 to 4 studies; often found to be beneficial to students undertaking GSCE drama.
