What we offer on a school trip
Rein and Shine Horse Riding School is a large equestrian centre based in the rolling hills of North Wiltshire.
We are located in 90 acres of countryside with stables, riding arenas, grazing fields and field crops and is well placed to offer high quality equine learning. We have a large variety of horse and pony breeds which offers your students hands on educational outdoor learning experiences, such as animal husbandry, science and equine anatomy topics. Your students will learn about digestive system and diet of horses and ponies.Students will have hands on opportunity to groom and learn about horse behaviour plus they will study the skeletal structure of these amazing creatures
There is the option to ride our state-of-the-art horse-riding simulator … experience the thrills of riding, jumping and skills, in a very safe and controlled environment.
Secondary school bespoke packages are available.

What is typically included on our school trips
On arrival you will be met a qualified team member and allocated PPE.
You may be split into groups depending on the number of attendees and then start the program typically being:
1) Study into Horse v Human skeleton with worksheets supplied.
2) Diet, feed and digestive system presented on a real horse. Worksheets will look at each organ involved in digestion.
3) Grooming and handling a horse
Our age range caters from 8 years old and upwards. Therefore, our topics provide learning programmes linked to the whole curriculum. Worksheets and pre reading materials can be provided for before and after the trip.
All visits can be bespoke and tailor made with additional topics so please enquire.

Designated horses and ponies only.
Risk Assessment
The riding school can provide their risk assessments and teachers can visit prior to the school trip to carry out their own risk assessments. We can provide copies of their public liability insurance. All pupils under 16 will need have a disclaimer signed by a parent or guardian prior to attending.

Pricing
As an example, based on 30 per group and 3 hours on site price is £11.80 per child for educational modules only and up to £13.50 per child to include riding the horse-riding simulator. Please enquire for smaller group prices or difference length of visits. All teachers and school employees up to 1 in 5 pupils are free.
Coach and minibus drivers get free tea and coffee.
Clothing Requirements
We recommend warm and practical outdoor clothing to suit the weather conditions and sun cream when applicable. Sensible shoes required and no open toes. No shorts if riding the simulator. Socks are recommended when wearing riding boots.
Some areas may get wet or muddy, so boots/wellies recommended if wet weather. Relevant PPE will be provided when around horses.

The stables and study rooms are wheelchair accessible and has disabled toilet facilities.

Further Information
We can accommodate SEN groups and we have instructors with experience in working with most needs including pupils with an EHCP. Closer attention will be required by the school staff and we will need specific information prior to booking so please enquire.
