What we offer on a school trip
YOUR STUDENTS. OUR INSTRUCTORS. ONE WILD LOCATION.
Limitations on young people, whether real or perceived, come in all shapes and sizes. But we use the power of learning and adventures in the wild to defeat them all.
We partner with schools and colleges to teach young people the most important lesson they could ever learn: to believe in themselves.
It’s the superpower that transforms their behaviour throughout school, work and beyond.
Learning about yourself happens best out in the wild. We take young people away from the everyday life into our world, to give them life-changing experiences they won’t get from home or inside the classroom.
Our tailored outdoor learning courses deliver an alternative education, giving young people the confidence to tackle the real world head on.
Activities depend on a lot of things; what your school has asked to do, what your instructor has planned based on your learning aims, how many of you and also on what the weather is like. However, to give you an idea, below is a list of activities you might be doing:
- Expeditioning (camping)
- Gorge walking
- High ropes activities
- Rock climbing
- Scrambling
- Hill walking
- Canoeing
- Sailing
- Tree climbing
- Kayaking
- Raft building

What makes us a great choice for education
The centre is set in 18 acres of woodland at the heart of Wordsworth country, our Ullswater outdoor education centre is based on the north shore of the lake. Participants can canoe or row on the lake, and enjoy a stay in our high mountain lodge as part of an expedition to climb Helvellyn – one of The Lake District’s highest peaks.
We provide all the specialist kit, waterproofs and boots you’ll need. If they get wet just pop them in our big drying room, and you’ll be kept warm in the main building with our ground source heat pump heating.
Our kitchen team are passionate about providing the tastiest food they can, with lots of the ingredients coming from local suppliers. If you have any dietary requirements be sure to mention them on your personal information form before you come.
We use the power of learning in the wild. We take young people on authentic wild journeys showing them they can achieve more than they ever thought possible
