I recently did a poll to find out how far in advance teachers and educators would normally book a school trip and 36.3% are incredibly organised, booking a year in advance, 55.8% book one or two terms in advance and only 8% leave it until the month before the trip. Much of society has been given an idea as to when they can get back to work, and back to doing the things they love, but what about school trips? At the moment there has been no change in guidance on school trips, but a review of the situation will be made in mid-March. We are of course hoping that we will soon be allowed to run the school trips that we have all missed so much over the last year, but in the meantime we carry on with our campaign!

As part of the #SaveOutdoorEd campaign we have launched our #MuddyPuddleChallenge to raise awareness of the situation that outdoor centres find themselves in, and to encourage people to sign our petition. We’d love to see your entries – all you have to do is:

THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF COMPUTING – Bletchley, Milton Keynes

This unique museum is at Bletchley Park, the home of the WW2 codebreakers. The computer museum is distinct from the heritage site. Their story starts with how the earliest computing machines allowed codebreakers to break the German codes. It is home to the world’s largest collection of working historic computers. From WW2 codebreaking machines to the world's oldest working electronic computer, it is the perfect place to engage students in STEM topics.

The Winding House's award-winning learning programme brings to life the rich heritage of the South Wales valleys. AQUA EXPLORER from AQUALEASE - Rock Pool experience – North West, Yorkshire and West Midlands

The Aqualease Rock Pool experience is an innovative service which has been cleverly and carefully developed by the company’s highly experienced marine rangers and their credible staff, to link in with many aspects of the national curriculum. It delivers information, activities and a remarkable hands-on experience right to the classroom desk. Pupils are able to enjoy two and a half hours of fascinating facts, combined with a chance to get up close and personal with rock pool species such as Mussels, Crabs, Blennies and Starfish.

RSPB WILD CHALLENGE AWARD

Wild Challenge award provides a perfect framework for learning and is open to all ages and abilities. Encourage your pupils to apply their curriculum knowledge outdoors in nature and support them to develop resilience and agency. RSPB Wild Challenge is an award programme containing 24 activities which can link to your curriculum learning.  You can choose the most relevant activities and each one helps children to connect with and learn through nature. There are bronze, silver and gold awards to achieve depending on how many activities you do.
