News from www.ukschooltrips.co.uk
16 June 2021
Dear School Trip and Workshop Organiser,
First of all, a massive thank you to all of our teachers and educators who have really came together in a tremendous effort to support the nation’s children over the past months in very worrying, chaotic and challenging times.
I am happy to share some good news that from Autumn term schools and educational groups can once again enjoy UK based Day Trips and Workshops which I think will massively help the mental health of the nation’s children after this stressful time, a lot of which has been spent indoors, infront of screens. You can see full details about this on the following link, published 3 July 2020 by the Department for Education in their Guidance for schools, scroll to Section 2, School Operations: Click for more details
In addition, I would like to share with you the positive news that Outdoor Learning is explicitly encouraged with the use of outdoor space and outdoor education utilised in learning as often as possible. This was expressed by Baroness Berridge who is the Minister for School Systems, Department of Education and Minister for Women. She confirmed her support for Outdoor Learning and expressed how important it will be when schools fully return in September to support; health and wellbeing, physical distancing and supporting learning at home and in school.

Below is some positive information about the future importance of school trips and workshops from our own UK School Trips Research:
To research how teachers and educators feel about educational trips and workshops we ran a series of polls on our twitter page. We were thrilled with the positive results that I would like to share:
Here is a link to our twitter poll showing 73.3% of teachers and educators think it will be important to teach outside of the classroom making use of local facilities such as; museums, galleries, heritage, parks, zoo's, theatres, nature reserves, wildlife, farms, sports, planetariums etc:
Here is a link to our twitter poll showing that 73% of teachers and educators plan to do a school trip in the next school year from September 2020 with many teachers planning multiple trips. This poll was taken in the middle of lockdown so I suspect it would be even higher now:
Here is a link to our twitter poll showing that 81.3% of teachers and educators are considering using a workshop company to help bring learning to life:
Here is a link to our twitter poll showing when teachers will be researching for their next UK Based trip. As you will see many are already researching:
And finally I would like to share the www.ukschooltrips.co.uk site traffic
During 2019 we had a record 430,580 searches on our site for UK Based trips or workshops.
I have been amazed and very happy to see we are still having a lot of searches on our site since schools closed for Corona, with teachers already researching Autumn term and 2021:
January 41459 (normal month before corona)
February 29863 (before corona with half term)
March 19131 (when schools first closed for corona)
April 9247 (schools closed)
May 10240 (schools closed)
June 10758 (schools closed)
Thanks for taking the time to read our newsletter. I wish you all a fabulous summer and hope to share much more positive and happy times with you all very soon
