How Stean Gorge Multi Activity Centre Yorkshire

How Stean Gorge’s school activity days are designed to make your educational visits a success. We have been increasingly used by thousands of students from schools and colleges across the UK. Our unique Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) offers an inspiring day out for schools groups.

School Activity Days can include a variety of activities which conveniently take place on-site at How Stean:

• Gorge walking/ghyll scrambling
• Caving
• Abseiling
• Ultimate Via Ferrata
• Canoeing
• Offsite caving

If you are coming along for a half or full-day session, meals can be provided by arrangement.

How Stean Gorge’s team of outdoor instructors are professional, friendly and have a great amount of experience with groups of all ages and abilities. All of the team hold numerous National Governing Body awards, Outdoor First aid qualifications, and some are qualified teachers themselves!

How Stean Gorge offers an exciting mix of activities for school day visits, helping pupils get the most out of the curriculum in a fun, action-packed way in the great outdoors! Residential trips are perfect for groups who want to:

• Embrace new challenges
• Develop teamwork and relational skills
• Build resilience and conquer fears
• Spend time together in a new setting

The majority of outdoor activities take place on-site where we have the very best facilities and equipment. Minimal transport is needed once here, maximising the value that staff and pupils can get at How Stean Gorge.

• We can have up to 100 people on activities at once

We provide all the information visitors might require before they come to How Stean Gorge.

Staff are welcome to come along on a FREE pre-visit. All personal protective equipment is provided for our activities.

Half day activities – £350 for a group of up to 10 young people + 1 free staff member

Full day activities – £600 for a group of up to 10 young people + 1 free staff member

A full change of clothing is required for each activity and a towel for showers afterwards.

All staff are First Aid trained and First Aid kits are always carried by indtructors whilst on activity sessions.

Our outdoor activities are not suitable for wheelchair users. However, our café is wheel chair accessible and has a disabled toilet facility

Our opening times re 9am – 5pm.

We had a fantastic time at How Stean in July. The activities were fun, challenging and in a natural setting which we all thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were organised, very well trained and extremely helpful / accommodating. They recorded amazing footage of our trip which the pupils loved watching back and parents enjoyed seeing the challenges their children overcame and the fun they had!
