What we offer on a school trip


Fireground, located in Rochdale, is the perfect place for young people to explore the world of firefighting. Our artefact and exhibit-based Education Programme provides educational groups the opportunity to learn in a unique setting.
Having welcomed hundreds of schools in the past as the Greater Manchester Fire Service Museum, our new facilities, now housed in Rochdale’s landmark 1930s fire station, are bigger and better than ever.

As well as having a dedicated Learning and Communities Officer, our education service now has a bright, engaging, and well-equipped Education Suite which is ready to welcome school groups.
We have brand new static and interactive displays, and realistic recreations offer an exciting and informative visit for your group.

What is typically included on our school trips and educational experiences


In most cases, our educational visits comprise of a session in our education suite, followed by a tour of the museum.

Group Sizes


Normally, we cater for a maximum group size of 30. However, there is some flexibility available in the case of a slightly larger class.
Please speak to the museum about class size when booking.
Photography, Filming & Audio Restrictions


There are no restrictions, as long as it is for individual or school use.

We are DDA compliant. We have wheelchair accessibility to the building and fully accessible toilets.
Our first floor Education Suite is serviced by an accessibility lift.
