We are a tourist attraction which has many geological aspects to it. During the tours visitor get to see a Blue John mine and learn all about the history of the stone as well as seeing fossils.

What we offer

They also get to see a spectacular natural cavern with the finest stalactites in the peak district with flowstone formations covering the wall. There is a lot of different geological features in a small area coupled together with a wealth of history. Our current customers come to us because we are a friendly, family run business that has built up a great service and reliability to them over the past 68 years.

What is typically included?

A tour of the cavern which includes the history of the cavern, the history of the Blue John stone and the mining of Blue John. We also do polish your own Blue John stone when booked in advanced.

Group Sizes Catered For

We can cater for any size groups ranging from 2 people to 40 on one tour. Bigger groups are welcome but may have to be split into smaller groups.

Photography, Filming & Audio Restrictions

Children are allowed to take pictures etc..

Clothing Requirements

No but waterproof coats and suitable footwear are advised as the walk up to the cavern and inside can be very wet.

First Aid Information

Yes we have trained first aiders but its recommended to have one in the group.

Available Facilities

We have a shop, small cafe and we also have an undercover seating area if schools want to bring packed lunches. Spending money is down to the school on how much they bring.

Accessibility & Disabled Facilities

The venue isn?t suitable for disabled children.

We are open all year from 10am (weather permitting)
