What we offer
Educational visits are tailored to cover the topics and learning outcomes appropriate to you.
Our visitor centre facilities and experienced staff make an ideal safe place for schools to visit. We will help you and your class to expand your knowledge, gain hands on experiences, put classroom theories into practice and most of all have fun!
Our animal areas house a variety of friendly pet animals that can be fed and handled on every visit. As a working farm we also have a range of commercial animals including sheep, Gloucester Old Spot pigs, Sussex cattle and Highland cattle. Learning about these animals, their welfare and purpose, can be incorporated on a tractor ride exploring the farm.
We are passionate about teaching and showing people of all ages where their food comes from; from rearing the animals in the fields to the end food product in the farm shop. With our new farm shop opening in 2017 stocking our very own beef, pork and lamb, we have the perfect facility for showing children the whole process from the animals on the farm to the food on their fork.
Other features of the farm that can be explored on a guided walk or tractor ride include woodlands, ponds and wetlands, River Cole, flower rich meadows, grass field margins and wild bird covers. These habitats are a haven for a diverse array of wildlife and offer many exciting learning opportunities every season relating to farming, the environment and countryside.
What makes us a great choice?
Roves Farm offers excellent facilities for group and school visits, including our large heated visitor centre barn (so there is no need to worry about the weather!). We are a family run working farm with all the benefits and facilities of being open to the public year round. Our experienced and knowledgable teachers and staff will lead your tailor made visit, adjusting their talks and teaching to the age, abilities and desired learning outcomes for your group. We hope that a hands on, outdoor learning approach will engage and inspire young and inquisitive minds.
Roves Farm is easily accessible by coach from the M4 motorway and main roads (A419, A361 and A420).
