The Roaches Bunkhouse is located at the foot of the famous Roaches, a formation of rocks stretching for approximately 3 miles with magnificent views over Tittersworth reservoir.

Accreditation and Awards

We do not have any current accreditations but have previously been a member of Visit Peak District & Derbyshire, a scheme run by Peak District and Derbyshire Tourist Board. We are looking at increasing our publicity and awards at this time.

Group Sizes Catered For

We can accommodate up to 42 people at any given time but have plans to expand and increase our facilities beyond this number.

Risk Assessment Details

Fire Alarm Equipment (can be tested by staff. Audited by external company).
Test Frequency: Weekly – test a manual call point during working hours.
Additional battery operated smoke detectors are also in use. Inspection: Monthly battery checks.
Main fire equipment Inspection and Servicing: 6 monthly, carried out by an appropriately certified/UKAS accredited certification body or company.

Pricing Information

Cost is a simple £10 per person per night. This rate is maintained throughout the year. We do offer discounts for groups of 25 or over, or full facility hire, for Sunday night through to Thursday night.

First Aid Information

We have a first aid box available but you would be required to bring your own qualified first aider.

Available Facilities

We do not provide meals at this time.
Communal area with tables and chairs, log fire, and board games.
Attached to the communal area is a kitchen with fridge, cooker, microwave, kettle, cutlery and crockery, pots and pans.
A combined toilets and shower area containing enclosed cubicles and communal basins as well as a drying room.
Access to the internet is available.
The large communal room could be used as a classroom if the full facility has been hired.

Opening Hours & Information

Opening days and times are 7 days, 8am to 8pm.

Other Information

The area is used extensively for DofE awards and practice throughout the year. There are watersports facilities at Tittersworth Reservoir, approximately 2 miles away by road or 1 mile walking. Tittersworth Reservoir has a 5 mile circular walk around its edge. Rudyard Reservoir also has water sports, walks and a train ride (not always operational, please check in advance). Please note that any activities wishing to be undertaken must be booked with the relevant body, we are not affiliated in any way to them and cover them here for your reference and awareness only.

There are limited local amenities as follows:
Café: Roaches Tea Rooms (1/2 mile).
Ye Olde Rock Inn public house (150m).
Three Horseshoes public house (1 mile).
The Lazy Trout public house (2 ½ miles).
Leek is our closest town for shopping (3 miles).

Room Sizes and Facilities

The bedrooms are small and simple, for sleeping only. We have 9 rooms with 4 beds arranged as two bunk beds and 3 rooms with 2 beds in a single bunk bed.
There is room to store cases/rucksacks at the foot of the beds or underneath and a shelf with power points.
