What we offer on a school trip
We have three buildings: The Farm House can sleep 28 students in bunk bedded accommodation, with showers and lavatories. One of the rooms is ensuite. There is a teachers? flat with three bedrooms, one double, two single, bathroom, sitting room with tea making facilities. The duty instructor also has a room there for 24 hour cover. The Clubhouse sleeps 47 students and five teachers. All teachers rooms are ensuite. There is also a sitting room with coffee and tea. The Garden Cabin sleeps twelve students in three ensuite rooms, plus one or two teachers again with ensuite. Schools never share the same building. Camp site has sturdy canvas tents with flooring which accommodate 5 - 6 students. There are camp beds provided for students.
Teachers have their own single tents with beds. There are showers, lavatories, a barn for wet weather, a fire pit, drying lines, and a solar drying room. There are also facilities for tea and coffee making.
All buildings have coded key pads on the outside doors, there is CCTV on the main building, gates are locked, and 24 hour duty cover. Please also include information regarding security, for example: 24hour reception cover, CCTV.
We write individual programmes for each group in conversation with the party leader, asking what their aim is and what they would like included. There are various categories including team building, communication, decision making, leadership, a history and river project, and environmental topics including a sustainability tour.
We feel we are very different from most centres in our holistic approach both to our visitors and the environment. We try to keep the gardens as attractive as possible, growing all our plants organically. We have planted 10,000 native trees throughout the estate, reinstated hedgerows, and have rare breed sheep, pigs, a Shetland pony, a donkey, chickens and bee hives. We have a strong environmental ethos and have held the Gold Green Business Award for six years.
We have a wide range of over 40 activities and outdoor pursuits to suit students from seven years upwards. These range from canoeing, high ropes, climbing wall, two 240 metre zip wires over the river, assault course, archery range, air rifle range, low ropes, fire lighting, tree climbing, grass toboggans, raft building and racing, tunnelling, animal feeding, cooking in a clay oven, crafts, history, sustainability and river projects, problem solving games and tasks.
As a Centre which was founded over thirty years ago we are very experienced and knowledgeable in what teachers are looking for in a trip, and constantly have extremely positive feedback at the end of their stay - this inevitably results in repeat bookings for the following year.
