What we offer

We work with a wide range of young people and are able to provide accommodation for those with additional needs.

We offer outdoor adventurous activities including; high ropes, team building and obstacle courses, archery, bushcraft and forest adventures. In the local area we also run rock climbing, canoeing and kayaking and underground mine exploration. Through a combination of these activities, the high quality delivery of our instructional staff, we believe young people can be stimulated and stretched to cope better with challenges.

Hindleap Warren is part of the charity London Youth. Our mission is to help young people be the best they can be.

What makes us a great choice?

Hindleap Warren is a purpose built outdoor education centre. The accommodation is arranged to give schools separate living spaces and the building has four lecture rooms for evening activities or self-facilitated workshops.

In addition to the activities, simply being away from home at a residential centre has inherent benefits. A recent 7 year study by the Learning Away initiative has discovered that 84% of all students will behave better in schools due to attending a residential. This study has also shown that 53% of all students have improved school attainment after a residential.

Through our own outcomes evaluation model - The Journey of Change - we have discovered that children and young people gain confidence, increase resilience and determination and build positive relationships during a residential at Hindleap.

Over the past six months Hindleap has been making links between the Primary School curriculum and the activities we offer to schools. We now understand that for both Key Stage 1 and 2 our activity programmes can support the learning delivered by teachers in the classroom, especially in English, Mathematics and Science.

The booking process is dealt with on site at our centre. We can provide a pre-residential presentation at your school for parents and children. Teachers are welcome to visit the centre for a tour and we always do our best to accommodate any special requirements the school or children may have.

Accreditation and Awards

Our aim is to provide safe, enjoyable adventurous activities. To this end we are regularly inspected by recognised outside bodies.

We currently hold an Adventurous Activities Licence, from the Governments Adventurous Activities Licencing Service, the Adventuremark from the Adventure Activities Industry Advisory Committee, The Gold Standard badge from The Association of Heads of Outdoor Education Centres and are an Approved Centre for The British Canoe Union, Sports Leaders and The Royal Lifesaving Society.

What is typically included?

Our School Programme Manager will have a conversation with the school before the trip to discuss what outcomes the teachers hope to achieve. We will then build a programme that best suits the needs of the group.

A residential visit to Hindleap can be from one night and two days, to a four night, five day trip. We are open all year round and offer fully catered facilities.
