What we offer

Hooke Court Dorset provides fully catered accommodation for visiting groups of school children. We provide fully tutored packages, or groups may wish to use us as a base and dip into activities as they wish.

The bedrooms are dormitory style for the children sleeping between 2 - 10 children in each with single and twin staff bedrooms interspersed amongst them. Many of our staff bedrooms have en suite bathrooms. Dining times are allocated to each group so that there is no sharing of meal times with other groups.

Greenleafe, our largest unit sleeps 50 children/6 staff, Honeypot sleeps 38 children/5 staff,The Manor House sleeps 46 children/5 staff, The Gatehouse sleeps 24 children/4 staff, The North Wing sleeps 34 children/4 staff and The Studio sleeps 10 children/2 staff.
During the summer months we also offer camping (sleeps 40 children/ 4 staff).

Each accommodation unit is secure and each group is issued with its own key to ensure their children are secure at night. We ensure that the premises are well lit.

As well as their own facilities, groups may use shared areas of the grounds such as the adventure playground, Aelfric Hall or playing fields.

Hooke Court, in Dorset, is the perfect choice for your school visit. With over 20 years experience, and an exemplary safety record, we have created two unique study centres in safe, tranquil settings. Each group is treated individually and time is taken to assess their needs to provide a range of stimulating educational activities with comfortable accommodation.

The historical settings of both field study centres are truly inspirational; a 12th century Manor House provides the centrepiece for Hooke Court Dorset and the 18th century Georgian Manor House at Hooke Court Wales stands proudly above the sea in Carmarthenshire. These historical characters are used to their full potential to enhance the expansive range of educational programmes that we offer.

With a wealth of experience from primary to GCSE and A level teaching staff, our qualified and knowledgeable tutors have enabled Hooke Court to develop a wide range of programmes that enhance and supplement the National Curriculum allowing children to access learning at their own level. We pride ourselves on providing excellent opportunities for children to develop their team work, communication and negotiating skills through stimulating and fun activities.

Beyond our extensive landscaped grounds at Hooke Court Dorset, just 11 miles away, lies the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and some of West Dorset's finest attractions, which provide yet more opportunities for fun and exciting ways to learn and grow. In contrast just a short walk from Hooke Court Wales you will find the most beautiful estuary where you can wander for miles on sandy beaches, explore rock pools and enjoy magnificent views of Llansteffan Castle.

What makes us a great choice?

Teachers packs are sent to groups before they arrive at Hooke Court to give them as much useful information as possible before they arrive. This includes risk assessments, room and building plans, kits lists etc. We recommend that teachers visit us before they arrive to plan their programme and familiarize themselves with Hooke Court. On arrival teachers are given a welcome pack, which details the main areas of Hooke Court, first aid, 24 hour on-site assistance, etc.

Each group is catered for individually, which is why the pre-visit is so important. This visit enables us to discover exactly what areas the teachers wish to cover during their time with us.

We provide fully tutored programmes that relate directly to the National Curriculum, lead by our own qualified and experienced tutors. Our programmes are flexible enough to customize dependent on the educational needs of each group. We provide comprehensive risk assessments for all our programmes.

Group Sizes Catered For

Groups of 20 minimum up to 240 for exclusive use.

Photography, Filming & Audio Restrictions

There are no copyright restrictions and we do allow groups to take photos, video and audio where appropriate but only of their own group.

Risk Assessment Details

All of our staff are CRB checked and our risk assessments can be provided to visiting teachers if required. Most of our activities are low risk and are therefore regulated by our own internal Risk Assessments. These are regularly reviewed and updated as necessary. Where necessary our tutors are also trained to work within the safety guidelines of the National Governing Body responsible for any particular activity. All buildings have fire detection systems. We brief all group leaders on what to do in the event of a fire on arrival. We have LOTC accreditation.
