What we offer
Why not bring your Class to the once buzzing Operations Centre in Britain's Top Secret Radar war.
Through displays and films, learn how the RAF's Air Defence operations developed from early trials with huge sound mirrors through the first of the WWII Chain Home Radars, the Cold War long range Radars right up to the latest 3D Radars in use with the RAF here in the UK and overseas. Other displays show you what it was like to be a civilian at war in the 40's or take you to the fighter station at RAF Coltishall or to the Top Secret Radar station at RAF Fylingdales, still looking, day and night, for any incoming nuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles.
What makes us a great choice?
We provide a unique insight into the realities of the Battle of Britain, the Night Blitz, the Cold War and modern Operations. We focus on the role of the people involved in the Air Defence Network as well as covering technology and life during those periods and how the population was affected by the major wars. We tailor visits to meet your needs. We have great access to the site for coaches and areas inside or outside where packed lunches may be consumed!
Group Sizes Catered For
We can accommodate up to 40 children who are generally split into smaller groups of 10-15 to work alongside teachers and Museum staff undertaking specific tasks on a rotation basis.

Thank you so much for all your hard work today. I'm glad you enjoyed it- it was amazing some of the questions they came up with! They haven't stopped talking about it all this afternoon and they were all telling their Mums and Dads at picking up time. Northgates Infants School
I thought you might like some feedback about our visit. The children were all very positive. They loved looking at all of the 'real old' equipment (their words!), liked the quizzes, loved getting to know the guides and felt well looked after, liked looking at the uniforms, old telephones and ejector seat and all agreed the space defence room was the best room. Wiggenhall School
Several letters from Copford Primary School who have visited several times.
