What we offer on a school trip
Outposts offer schools a variety of outdoor educational programmes aimed at developing life-skills such as communication, resilience, leadership, curiosity, adaptability, imagination, perseverance and critical-thinking.
All our programmes are tailor-made to suit our client’s specific objectives, curriculum links, age group, abilities and budget, including: team-building, transition days, leadership qualifications, staff inset days, first aid and bush craft & survival training.
The on-site activities include low ropes, archery and air gun ranges, various problem-solving and command tasks, an assault course, pond for coracle building, orienteering, slippery slide and woods for bush craft & den-building.
We are ideally placed for activities off-site including high ropes, raft-building, caving, climbing, abseiling, coasteering, sea kayaking, stand-up-paddle boarding and surfing. These can be built into day or residential programmes.
Our African style Bush Camp is the hub of the site. The rustic communal area houses a commercial kitchen and dining area, which doubles up as a games room and break-out space. There is a wood burner to make it cosy on colder evenings and outside there is a campfire, BBQ and picnic tables. The Bush Camp grounds have male and female shower blocks and eco-loos, for an off-grid experience.
Accommodation is in ten-man tents with camp beds just a few metres from the Bush Camp communal area. In May 2019, we will be opening new wooden lodges for those who do not wish to camp. The site capacity is for groups of up to 64 with catering options including fully catered, half board or B&B. Our food is homemade, wholesome, where possible locally sourced and menus are designed with young people in mind. Special dietary requirements are catered for and we are a completely nut free site.
We aim to be somewhere that the whole group can get away from the day to day, especially technology. There is little or no mobile signal and wifi is only available for staff.
The company has been operating since 1997. We are extremely proud of the positive feedback that we receive from our customers, many of whom have been coming back year on year since we opened.
Health, safety and child protection are top priority. All our staff are first aid and child protection trained, we are AALA certified and hold a LOtC Quality Badge. Risk assessments and insurance documents are available upon request.
