What we offer on a school trip
Newgale Lodge is located less than two miles from Newgale Beach in the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. It is open all-year-round and is the perfect place for school trip residentials. The whole site is approximately two acres, at the end of a no-through road, in a rural location and has no near neighbours. It is offered to schools on an exclusive use, fully catered basis, and is both private and safe for groups to play and have fun.
Our smaller size means that groups of more than 35 guests will have exclusive use of the entire site.
This means less stress for teachers worrying about pupils wondering off or mixing with other schools.
Schools that come here, return every year and one of the main factors for that is because the teachers know that they will have exclusive use of Newgale Lodge.
We provide bunkhouse accommodation for pupils and it has the added benefit of offering B&B style double/twin rooms and lounge with log burner for accompanying staff.
The accommodation is split between three buildings, with a separate dining room, games room and meeting room, giving great indoor spaces to use.
All the rooms are en-suite and each bunkhouse also has social spaces to sit and make drinks or snacks with fridge freezers and kitchen areas. All bedding is provided for your stay. In addition, the B&B rooms for staff have towels provided and have access to our lounge bar area with television, coffee station and comfortable sofa seating.
We provide hearty, nutritious meals included in your stay. A full cooked breakfast starts the day, providing pupils with lots of energy, ready for your day of activities. We also provide a packed lunch to take with you on your day of adventure and a 2-course evening meal to end the day.
Dietary requirements are catered for. Alternative meal options can include a hosted BBQ and/or pizza evening in the warmer months.
All the accommodation is situated around a large central lawned area which is perfect for team games and has picnic tables, BBQs and a wood fired pizza oven for making the most of dining outside together.
There is free Wi-Fi available on site and this can be controlled according to what access staff permit pupils to have.
There is a fire pit on site for gathering round with a hot chocolate and toasting marshmallows and we have a bunch of fun things around the site to enjoy the outdoors.
The games room has a table tennis, pool table, books and board games. Outside games include bean bag toss boards, basketball hoops, orienteering challenge, cricket and other ball games. We also have a high ropes course on site that can be booked as an additional activity for groups.
The local area is a brilliant place to explore and you can access a full range of activities within a short drive from the accommodation including: rock climbing, kayaking, surfing, Coasteering, boat trips, rock pooling and coastal path walks.
There are plenty of historical, cultural, geological areas of interest in and around the area with plenty of wildlife to see. St David’s, Britain’s smallest city is a ten-minute drive away and has the Cathedral and 13th century ruins of the Bishops Palace where you can catch open air theatre in the summer months.
The peninsula also has several blue flag beaches and castles to explore as well as a range of tourist attractions within Pembrokeshire including: St David’s Bug Farm, the Castell Henllys iron age village, Hangar5 trampoline park, Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo, Manor House Wildlife Park, Heatherton World of Activities and Oakwood Theme Park.
We can help recommend an itinerary for your stay and can help you with bookings for any organised activities, such as Coasteering, sea-kayaking, surfing, climbing, coast walks or boat trips.
