What we offer

Situated on the edge of the small hamlet of Hartsop, Patterdale, in the heart of the Lake District we provide affordable and flexible self catering accommodation for up to 28 guests.

We give preference to youth and voluntary groups from schools, colleges, faith communities and organisations who work with young people. Family and adult groups are also welcome.

Our quiet location provides a private central base for many of the Lake District's attractions and the wide range of local activities available in and around Patterdale such as canoeing, horse riding, windsurfing, mountain biking and rock climbing, making us ideal for holidays, field, adventure courses and study weeks.

We have planning permission for the disabled accommodation and upgrading the games room.

We are actively seeking funds to carry out the work.

What makes us a great choice?

Langton Adventure Centre was founded in 1970 as a charitable trust by Canon John Thursfield and Thomas Edwin Langton to be used as and for an adventure centre for character training to help boys, girls and young people through their leisure time activities so to develop their physical, mental and spiritual capacities that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society.

Established through donation and fundraising, the Centre was originally used for 'outward bound' type courses to enable young people to visit the Lake District and enjoy walking, climbing, canoeing and sailing on the surrounding lakes and fells. We continue to operate as a charity today, run by its trustees and volunteers in accordance with the objectives laid down by the Charity Commissioners. Although we no longer provide activity equipment our location offers a multitude of local expertise for a wide range of activities, making us ideal for education visits.
