What we offer
The accommodation is in log chalets located by the main building. Each has 7 bedrooms with a selection of twin ensuite, bunk ensuite and bunk. Occupancy for each room is a maximum of 2 persons. A room will be reserved in each chalet for staff members.
The Centre is manned after 5pm by night watch staff and theyareon the premises and on call overnight.
There are external lights around the building.
The island has a local hospital, police station and the centre has emergency procedures in place
In advance of school visits a member of staff will discuss the requirments of the group and supply sample activity programmes, teachers notes and other supporting information abouthte centre. Our staff are aware of cross curricular themes and will aim to fulfill any specific requests.
What makes us a great choice?
Groups can venture further to nearby bays, Millport, largs or even the island of Little Cumbrae. A trip to Millport is often favoured by groups as there is a wonderful seal colony that can be easily reached. Millport itself hosts an array of shops, cafes, the cathedral of the Isle, Garison House and the Fields Studies Council's marine biology centre.
The Cumbrae team can arrange for bike hire for visotrs and a 10mile round the island is an achievable and fun outing.
Group Sizes Catered For
On a day visit the Centre can accommodate groups of 70 however for residential visits it is limited to a maximum of 44 beds. The maximum number catered for may be less depending on gender influences on room alloction and number of leaders.
Photography, Filming & Audio Restrictions
Visitors to the Centre are welcome to use cameras and video recorders. When a group does not have sole use of the venue we ask them to be curtious of other users and respect their privacy when it comes to images and video.
Risk Assessment Details
All activity at the Centre is undertaken in line with current, regularly evaluated, risk assessments. These are readily available for teachers and leaders. There is a key member of staff who deals with group bookings and enquiries will be directed appropriately.
There are pricing structures in place making it like for like for all visitors and this will be explained at the point of enquiry before any confirmed booking is taken. The procedure requires a deposit payment followed by full settlement 6 weeks in advance of the visit. Our staff will assist to make the booking administration as simple and efficient as possible.

Prices are variable depending on activity package. A 5 day visit ranges between £245 £295. A 2.5 day programme is estimated at £154.
First Aid Information
All our instructors are first aiders. This is a pre requisite of their professional qualifications. There are marked first aid areas in the centre and emergency procedure plans in place.
Meals are included in the residential price and are served daily in our dining area. Packed lunches can be supplied and day visit groups can bring their own packed lunch if preferred. The main lounge is the recognized social area and there are other smaller rooms used during the day as teaching rooms and in the evening host table tennis or provide quiet areas.
There is free wifi connection for all guests. Staff can be given access to PC for use if required.
Accessibility & Disabled Facilities
The Centre has disabled access into the main building and has 2 accessable bedrooms suitable for wheel chair users and others. There is an accessable toilet in the main building and no restriction to group activity areas.
Situated on the Clyde on the island of Cumbrae the Centre is a 5 minute walk, 500m from the ferry slip. The Ferry arrives from Largs town which is 35 miles west of Glasgow. Once on the island the local bus service passes the door. The bus runs form the ferry slip to Millport town every 30 minutes. The Centre is situated 4 miles from Millport and it is a popular walking and cycling route.
