What we offer

Bristol Cathedral offers the opportunity for children to experience awe and wonder as they learn about the Christian faith, the history of the building and the people who have been involved in its story. There are many opportunities for cross-curricular learning, including Religious Education, History, Art, Music, Literacy, Citizenship and even Maths! Tours, trails and workshops are available with experienced education guides and we can tailor your visit to suit your learning objectives, time available and cost.

What makes us a great choice?

This is a great place to come for a Learning Outside the Classroom experience where history is combined with beauty, and the stories of old meet the lessons of today.

Bristol Cathedral is a place where children can explore, have fun and learn through looking, listening, playing talking and creating.

Children have told us that they love the big spaces of our Cathedral, the fun activities and the pretty and colourful? stained glass! Teachers appreciate the expertise of our guides and describe their visits as enjoyable and educational?.

Group Sizes Catered For

We try to cater for all sizes, but some activities will be limited to 30 in each group due to the size of our Education Centre (groups can be rotated throughout a morning or afternoon). This will be taken into consideration when planning your visit with us.

Materials, Resources & Information Provided

Many of our tours and trails have children's booklets provided with them, which can be used during the visit as a point of focus, or back at school as a follow-up activity. We are happy to send a copy to teachers in advance so that they can decide how best to use these resources.

Photography, Filming & Audio Restrictions

Yes we are happy for children to record their visit in this way, bearing in mind any photo restrictions each school may have in place.

Risk Assessment Details

We provide a risk assessment document on our website, and if a further visit is needed we are happy to provide a date and time when this would be suitable.

We have ramps that provide access to most of the Cathedral, as well as a disabled toilet. Access to the disabled toilet, Coffee Shop and Chapter House is not possible through the main Cathedral entrance, but can be accessed through the Cloister car park.

Testimonials

Children have said?

It was like an explosion in my mind when I saw the Cathedral.

I had lots of fun painting my candle holder. I had never used glass paint before.

It was one of the best school trips I?ve ever been on.

When we got there I was amazed by the patterns and I was fascinated by the building and

wondered how it was made?

Time passed so quickly that before I knew it, it was time to go which made me upset, hopefully

I will return some time with my parents.

We had a fantastic day there that I will never forget for my whole life.

Teachers have said?

The children always enjoy the activities and the leaders are always friendly and knowledgeable.

An excellent day, the children got so much from it. Many thanks!

Please can we come back next year!

I can?t praise everyone enough for their helpfulness, providing for all our needs.

It was refreshing to combine the historical information with their Christian faith and practice.

The guided tour was fantastic, we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
