What we offer

The Bank of England Museum's education programme is designed to support aspects of teaching in several curriculum areas for key stages 1 and above. It includes free cinema presentations that are highly interactive, offering students the chance to ask questions and keeping them engaged and interested throughout.

The presentations aim to improve pupils? awareness of money and prices in everyday life and give them a better appreciation of their own spending and saving decisions. Activity sheets are available for all age groups.

What makes us a great choice?

A fascinating combination of exhibits, interactive displays and audio-visual resources reveal the history of the Bank since its foundation in 1694 to its role today at the centre of the economy. The many hands-on displays include a rollerball game, an interactive timeline of financial storms, jigsaws, and the opportunity for some safe cracking.

Students can also take the helm of the brand new interactive boat game and set interest rates to keep the economy stable. Other displays that never fail to amaze pupils of all ages are the one million pound note and a genuine gold bar which can be held, although its 13 kg of weight will catch many people by surprise!

Testimonials

I wanted to thank you for an excellent presentation to our group. It was a really excellent opportunity very much enjoyed by the students. The video explaining why inflation is a problem for business investment was very useful. I would definitely do this again.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for suck a wonderful experience. All students enjoyed the presentation and found the content both interesting and pitched at the right level. The museum provided a wealth of information at all different levels but our boys were particularly attracted to the Gold Bar.

We hope to visit you again next year, as part of our financial programme for Y8.

Kind regards

We are writing to say thank you on behalf of the year 5's from Camelsdale Primary School for giving us a presentation on money that we really enjoyed. We mostly enjoyed watching the clips about money and hearing about the gold vaults and their stories. When we were in the Museum we liked learning about security features for money. We especially liked the ultra violet light. Thank you very much again.
