What are our school workshops like?
PrimeVR has been delivering virtual reality workshops since 2017. As the UK’s leading VR workshop provider, we have been rated 5/5 stars on Google, TrustPilot and Facebook by teachers and schools. We are a small team of teachers and educational professionals who focus on providing a service which is educational but highly engaging. We cover over 20 different KS2 topics, ranging from Space to Ancient Egypt. Using VR, we are able to bring the outside world into the classroom and provide children with an experience which otherwise might not be accessible. For example, we can show children inside a reconstructed WW1 trench, inside the Colosseum in Rome and even blast them into Space to learn about our Solar System.
VR is a great way of creating excitement around a topic and bringing a subject to life but it’s also important to ensure that children are learning. All of our workshops are led by either teachers or educational professionals who have experience in the classroom. We guide children through their experience with exciting facts, interesting questions and relevant discussions. Following on from our workshops, teachers can download one of our free literacy based lesson plans which focuses on children putting what they’ve learnt into a creative writing task.
Investing in your own VR equipment can be expensive but we focus on keeping our workshops cost competitive and they start from as little as £2 per child. Visit our website and submit an enquiry to receive a copy of our online brochure.
Areas Visited
We have team members based across the UK and we deliver our workshops nationwide (excluding NI).
What is typically included on our school trips?
We typically work with as many KS2 classes as possible during our VR days. Each KS2 class can choose a workshop relevant to their current topic. For example, in a day, we can deliver our Ancient Egypt workshop to Year 3, Romans to Year 4, Space to Year 5 and WW1 to Year 6. Each workshop lasts approximately 30-50 minutes depending on the topic and the number of headsets in use. We can work with a maximum of eight KS2 classes in a day and we usually work with a minimum of four KS2 classes.
In response to COVID-19, we have implemented a number of key measures to ensure we are limiting the spread of the virus.
- All children will have their own headset during their workshop and no sharing will take place. We can adapt the number of headsets we bring in based on the size of your bubbles.
- All headsets are cleaned thoroughly using antibacterial wipes in between use.
- Social distancing will be maintained at all times between PrimeVR team members, children and school staff.
- Schools can book a provisional date and cancel at any time without any fees/penalties.
If you would like to see a copy of our detailed risk assessment before booking, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to send this across.
Group Sizes Catered For
We can work with up to 240 children in a day. We can deliver a maximum of eight workshops throughout the school day with up to 30 children in each, lasting 30 minutes per session.*
Please get in touch to design your VR day for KS2.
*Please note, this capacity is currently subject to change due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Materials, Resources & Information Provided
We provide a follow up literacy based lesson plan for each of our workshops. All of our lesson plans focus on children completing a piece of creative writing (diaries, stories, information texts, letters etc.) based on what they’ve learnt during their workshop. You can download each of our free lesson plans from our partner site www.lessonplanned.co.uk.
We also provide each child with a PrimeVR boarding card. This is a follow up activity for children to complete a summary of their workshop and explain what they have learnt. These can be taken home to show parents or kept in school books to evidence their experience.
Every school will also receive five PrimeVR world maps that they can use for their display boards if they wish.
Photography, Filming & Audio Restrictions
Teachers and school staff can take as many pictures and videos as they’d like during their workshop.
We may also ask to take some pictures/videos during our workshops to use for our social media pages. However, we will ask explicit permission for this and all children involved will have to complete a permission slip.
