What makes us a great choice for education?

Typical English weather means you’re never sure whether you’ll need an umbrella or a sun hat, however we have you covered for instance. Indoor and outdoor activity will keep the kids (and adults) entertained for hours, no matter the weather. Many activity stations are undercover and can be accessed in wet weather. Not only this but we are a real working farm! We know our stuff about animals, and we love teaching and showing people the wonderful world of farming.

What is typically included on our school trips?

During the visit, you shall first have a talk from the farmer or his wife (a retired primary school teacher) in our events marquee. This talk will consist of a demonstration and a question and answer portion about farming and animal welfare in general. Next, groups will typically be split. Some will venture on our tractor and trailer ride around the farm for a talk on the cattle, farm equipment and feeding/nutrition. The other group shall be taken to our animal barn for a hands on experience with the animals. There, they will get to handle and feed various animals from rabbits to goats and cows. Every detail can be altered and every topic catered for. We specifically focus on farming, environment, seasons, animal types, conservation/preservation, nutrition, habitat, animal welfare and the countryside, but a variety of other topics can be covered. Every educational also allows for play time. 

Group Sizes Catered For

Ideally during term time we ask for a minimum of 20 children, we can cater for bigger groups as well. 

Materials, Resources & Information Provided

We focus on differentiating each session to each specific class, these sessions will obviously as such have a focus on the curriculum the class is currently working on. Materials used are usually visual, either props of foods and packaging (egg cartons, milk bottles, cereal etc..) or physical machinery. Otherwise, classes can choose to bring material or resources they wish us to use, or get the students to use. 

The style of our sessions is developed by the class teacher themselves and our educational leader, the farmers wife who has many years primary teaching experience. Also involved is a previously trained secondary school teacher who has worked with us for years and been heavily involved in educations and talks.

Yes, they are authorized with permission from guardians or parents of children.

We have our risk assessment on our website. Teachers are welcome to use this, or they can come out to our site and perform their own.

Pricing Information

We have 3 types of visits -

Standard Play Visit: 0-1 – Free of charge, 2-17 - £6.99 per person, Accompanying parents – £6.99 per person, Teaching staff/organisers go free.

Standard Educational: £8.50 per child, staff go free.

Natural England Sponsored: £3.75 per child, staff go free (we have a limited number of Government Sponsored visits).

Clothing Requirements

Wellies and waterproofs are recommended but not required.

First Aid Information

There will always be a first aider on site, we have a fully equipped first aid room also.

The gift shop offers small pocket money style toys and souvenirs, we usually recommend a £5 limit for children, but this is up to parents and guardians. 

Accessibility & Disabled Facilities

We have suitable disabled access to the majority of our buildings and most areas are paved. However, the tractor trailer ride is not suitable for wheelchair users (other arrangements can be made in these cases). Disabled toilets are situated at the top of the park and in the new restaurant. Many staff have had experience with SEN children and students however, they are not formally qualified.
