What makes us a great choice for education

Our sessions are designed to deepen students’ knowledge and understanding of the causes, consequences, and legacies of the Holocaust.

At Holocaust Centre North, this means addressing common misconceptions, fostering critical thinking skills, and highlighting why it is important to study the Holocaust in the present. By engaging with our collections, students will learn about the history of the Holocaust through the stories of survivors and refugees who made new lives in the North of England.

What is typically included on our school trips

We have four sessions for Primary sessions (Year 5 & 6 only) and four for Secondary and Further Education groups.

We also offer additional Hands on History sessions. These sessions bring history to life in ways that are meaningful for young people, offering them a chance to put their critical skills into practice, see today’s world differently and imagine new possibilities for themselves. Group Sizes Catered For

One of our sessions can cater for 40 students at a time. We can take larger groups (up to 80) – to book a larger group please discuss with our schools booking team.

Materials, Resources & Information Provided

Our learning sessions have been designed to ensure that they complement the national curriculum and exam boards, and were created in consultation with teachers.

Photography, Filming & Audio Restrictions

Visitors are free to take photos and videos.

Risk Assessment Details

We provide an onsite risk assessment once a booking has been placed.

Pricing Information

£5.50 per student for a single session, with a minimum spend of £150. If you would like to book a Holocaust Study Day which includes two sessions it is £10 per student.

Clothing Requirements

None.

First Aid Information

We have staff that are first aid trained onsite. We also have two mental health first aiders onsite.

Available Facilities

We have level access via a lift. The audio in the exhibition is on a t-loop. We have an accessible toilet. We don’t have refreshments for sale at the Centre but there are nearby options. We can only offer a packed lunch space for primary school visits, for which there is a small cleaning fee. Secondary and above are directed to canteen spaces on campus.

Accessibility & Disabled Facilities

We have level access via a lift and an accessible toilet. The audio in the exhibition can be accessed via a t-loop. We will do our best to ensure accessibility so please get in touch with any queries.

Monday to Thursday 10am – 5pm (winter hours vary so please check website) & Sundays 11am – 3.30pm
