What we offer on a school trip
Following a £16m revamp, Hull New Theatre is now a world-class venue offering the very best in touring theatre. Attracting high profile companies such as the National Theatre, The Royal Ballet and the RSC, Hull New Theatre is a premier venue offering first class theatrical experiences to all ages.
What makes us a great choice for education
Hull New Theatre offers a diverse program of Drama, Dance, Opera and Music. The theatre also features new state-of-the-art technical and backstage facilities, making the theatre suitable for providing educational backstage tours. We also have a new studio space ideal for theatre workshops.
What is typically included on our school trips
If your school is thinking of booking too see a performance, our box office team will endeavor to answer any questions you may have regarding your visit. If your school is interested in backstage tours or if you’d like your students to participate in a workshop, depending on which show you have booked for, we may be able to create a bespoke theatre workshop.
Group Sizes Catered For
The theatre has a seated capacity of up to 1300. For back stage tours and workshops please enquire about group sizes upon making your booking.
Materials, Resources & Information Provided
Some of the shows that tour to our venue will have educational resources and teachers packs. If you are coming to see a show and you require some something specific to enhance your experience from an educational perspective, please enquire and we will endeavor to help.
Photography, Filming & Audio Restrictions
We do not allow any photos or videos to be taken during a show, but if your students would like to take any photos of the auditorium either before or after a show, this should not be a problem.

First Aid Information
If your school is coming to see a performance, first aiders will always be present. Please list facilities available.
Hull New Theatre has a café bar and a restaurant.
Available Facilities
There is a kiosk in the theatre’s foyer which sells sweets, drinks and crisps before and after the show and during the interval. Ice creams are available to purchase during the interval priced £1.90 each. Ice creams for groups of 20 or more can be pre-ordered when booking tickets, ask the Box Office for more information. Groups should contact the Facilities manager in advance if they wish to bring packed lunches.
Accessibility & Disabled Facilities
Our newly refurbished theatre has full wheelchair access. We also have a disabled toilet complete with hoist. If you are making a booking for wheelchair users, please mention this when you make your booking so that we can allocate you one of our wheelchair spaces.
