What we offer on our school trip accommodation
Cohort St Ives is a multi-award winning, educational trip accommodation provider. We support you in delivering inspiring and transformative learning experiences.
Cohort has an LOTC Site Provider Award and are experienced at delivering school trips. Our team will support and help you with everything, from meal planning to transport to booking fantastic activities. We even offer an online Itinerary planner to help you find relevant, local activities for your group.
We have great facilities for schools, with the flexibility to configure the hostel to suit any size/age group. We offer flexible catering options, from accommodation-only to full-board and we encourage free planning stays for teachers, so you feel fully prepared prior to the trip.
St Ives itself is a unique location. Not only does it have a great selection of activities to meet academic learning outcomes; it’s also environmentally safe enough for younger students to build self-confidence as well as offering mental health benefits for both students and staff.
Cornwall is a great base for geography & geology trips, art students, and those studying sustainability, heritage and the English language. It’s also packed full of great activities for enrichment/activity weeks, outdoor pursuits, and water sports.

What makes us a great choice for educational groups
We operate with complete transparency; we are clear about what we offer, how much it is (no hidden costs), why we recommend local educators, and what you can expect when you arrive.
We support you fully; you can always expect quick responses to emails and questions. Our specialist website offers you presentation resources, easy downloads, a section for parents and guardians, and an online itinerary planner enabling you to filter for relevant activities.
We are committed to sustainability. We offer schools the opportunity to offset the carbon of their travel to us, as well as being a carbon neutral organisation ourselves. We also have a GOLD Green Tourism award, we are as plastic free as we can be, and we offer schools free resources to do a local beach clean as part of their trip.
STUDENTS LOVE our modern facilities – from free, Superfast Wi-Fi throughout the building to Netflix in the TV room. The rooms are comfortable and unique – our handmade pod beds with curtains giving students privacy even within the dorms.
STAFF LOVE the fact that the support they receive during the trip is from the same person who helped them with their planning. They love free tea and coffee throughout their stay, and the confidence they can have in the fact they can relax in a building which meets all health, safety, and security requirements.

Location Information
St Ives isn’t huge, but it packs a lot in and we are in the privileged position of being bang in the middle with everything within walking distance (for even the littlest legs).
Cohort is a 5-minute walk to the nearest beach, the town is on our doorstep, and iconic institutions such as Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden are no more than a 10-minute walk away – ideal for art students who can also take advantage of local educators offering Beach Sculpture workshops, sketch, and discussion tours.
We are perfectly located for visits to anywhere in SW Cornwall – Land’s End, St Michael’s Mount, The Minack, as well as major sites such as the Eden Project, Geevor Mine, and Bodmin Jail – all of which have award winning learning departments.
For Geography trips, we are perfectly located to examine tourism, coastal management systems, geothermal energy, and mining, as well as discovering the fascinating geology of the Lizard Peninsula, Carn Brae, and Lands End.
Activity trips can participate in surf lessons and a variety of other water sports on our doorstep, as well as hire bicycles, go horse riding, and go sightseeing.
We are close to the St Ives car parks; two of which have coach parking and three of which have minibus parking. There is space outside the hostel, or a few yards up the road in busier times, for coaches to pick up and drop off students if they have bulky luggage.
Room Sizes and Facilities
1 x 4 bed dorm.
6 x 6 bed dorm.
1 x 8 bed dorm.
3 x private rooms (single or twin).
All private rooms have sinks and all rooms use shared facilities. We have 3 large, spotlessly clean, shower blocks – one male, one female and one unisex. We always arrange separate facilities for staff and students.
We reside in a historically significant, Grade II listed building and all rooms sizes are different but with all the same handmade pod beds. Each bed has its own reading light, USB port/plug socket, privacy curtain and lockable, under bed storage.
